It was the dreadful accent, having everyone come up and start doing the 'do I make you horny, well do I baby?', actually I have to thank Myers in a sense because it did give me a tiny miniscule insight into being the target of racists jokes, I mean nothing compared to being East Indian or the like but I did learn something from the experience.

My god. The English psyche may never recover.

Come on, we're not really going to compare obvious satire and comedy to police brutality and systemic racism are we?

I think you're really reaching trying to make it in any way racist. You seem to be clumping cultural stereotypes in with racial stereotypes. None of the jokes in the movie have to do with race.
Let me put it this way. Exact same movies, but Eddie Murphy plays Austin Powers instead. Should black Englishmen be offended now?

You do know that Myers' parents were both English, right? He's mentioned that the character and the movies were inspired by his dad's sense of humor and his love of James Bond and British comedies. I think you're really reaching if you're finding anything racist about those movies. They're silly parodies of the Bond franchise, nothing more.

I didn't say I was complaining about it, it just got on my nerves when for several months everyone and his dog made fun of my accent with the same line, 4 or 5 times a day, and yes it wasn't the end of the world as the racial stereotype didn't come with the increased chance of getting arrested, beaten up or the lower socio economic status and sundry other things that genuine racism tends to bring, it was just annoying.

I’m annoyed when movies and tv shows get Canadians wrong (South Park is still the gold standard for accuracy) but I’d hardly call it racial stereotyping when I go to Vegas and people ask if I say aboot and club baby seals.
Yes to both, by the way, in case anyone was wondering.

Again.....none of it was racial. You seem to be missing this key point.

I think it's all racial stereotyping, the difference is for 'us' be we white British or Canadian it doesn't come with any of the other negatives that racial stereotyping tends to come with

So bad jokes about funny accents are all fine then, we can all go back to making fun on native accents or African American accents? none of that is racist either, how about exaggerated Jewish accents, they're white, that aint racist either?

Imagine being offended by Austin Powers and it being because of the accents.

Technically, the English don't have an accent. They invented the language, that's how words sound when spoken properly. (Credit to Jimmy Carr)

God I love that bit.
Pretty much sums up Americanism for me. Take something and call it their own completely ignorant to facts. WE have the accents. But to be fair, The British Isles alone have so many different variations on the language they invented, so its funny for them to be so Aristocratic about how anybody else speaks it.
