I realized the value was a little off so I added Alex Tanguay and Patrick Seiloff. Tanguay could be a stopgap for Pominville (although, I am unfamiliar with their team) and Seiloff is a solid defensive prospect.

At this point, Myers is salary is an already big enough risk as wasn't he a healthy scratch this season for some games?

To base a projection on something a little more concrete: I'm in the 15-16 season in my NHL 13 GM mode and Monahan, who was picked by Ottawa, has a bloody 92 overall rating already. 99 in shooting, deking, body checking, defensive awareness, stick checking, as well as a couple other stats. Ridiculous!

If Buffalo is game I'm all for it! Can they trade when he is injured?

Agreed. I think the smartest thing to do if we won the lottery would be trade down to three and then take whichever out of Jones Mackinnon Drouin are left. If you dont get your centerman then you look at ways of trading up with the two other 1st we have.

I would be best case ontario if somehow managed to get Jones/Mackinnon/Drouin then traded up and managed to get Monhan/Lindholm. That completely changes the rebuild and turns this ship around in 2 years instead of 5+.

True, we really have no idea where those picks end up.

I can see some idiots on CP raising their hands in the air- "we drafted Seth Jones. Noooooooooooo!!!!!". How ridiculous does that sound?

I thought that's what we had in Jarome for years but everyone bitched about not having a center.

I believe that the Oilers use the same method to evaluate talent as well.

Lindholm it is. Unless the Flames can somehow pull a rabbit out of a hat and move up to fourth and snag Barkov. But Nashvile needs a player like him just as badly.

If the Flames take Monahan I will be just as happy. Maybe trade up to eighth with the other picks and grab Nichushkin as well.

Zadarov and Ristolainen are more NHL ready than Nurse. They're more attractive to a lot of teams.

We're guaranteed one of the big 4 or a top centreman. Hallejulah

Happy to be picking sixth, we should get a great prospect at that spot in this draft. Potentially a player who will be in the bigs in 14-15.

I dont see anyway to get Barkov or Mackinnon. Colarado was really the only team who might have been willing to trade down to draft a dman. So I suspect we stay at 6 giving us at least one of Lindholm / Monahan

Hoping this pick gets us a better player than one who will potentially by in the league in two seasons...

I could actually see Calgary moving up to #2 if we offer Florida the #6 and and the St. Louis pick. #6 means Florida can still grab Nurse / Lindholm / Monahan, and also another top prospect.

Calgary gets their centre. Although, Florida would have to know that MacKinnon isn't the only wicked center in this draft and be okay with moving that pick.
