I've been once, couple of weeks ago. Just grabbed a latte (like I'd get anything else!) and croissant, was a Saturday morning and the place was packed with the brunch crowd. It's part of the Teatro group.

That sounds pretty good actually. Would love some local brunch options outside of 1886 and barley mill. Thanks.
Also, having a GMG moment. I have heard many people refer to fatbikes as "fatties". From two separate people now, I have heard phrases like, "Yeah, I rolled my fatty all winter" or "I rolled my fatty to work this morning despite there being no snow". This means something entirely different to me.

Not sure what to think of the bike racks there. I could see someone bailing hard there. I do know I have spent many a night stumbling around that same spot when it used to be Senor Frogs.

I spent yesterday out in Bragg Creek at Easter Seals Camp Horizon. I'm volunteering there to overhaul all of their bikes. I love it out there. My view was a group of kids doing archery, and a group of kids on the climbing wall. And a counsellor building an 8 ft snowman. It's an incredible place, and I'm pretty grateful for them having me. A couple of years ago for the Banded Peak challenge, my sons who were 16 at the time, pushed their classmate who has Cerebral Palsy, up moose mountain. It took them 8 hours but they made it to the summit. One of the proudest moments of my life.

One of the issues, and why I didn't get a good look, is that your attention is laser focused on the next intersection. Cars often barely stop so you are always watching to not get hit as you approach. So now you are going to be looking at the bikes and bike racks, possibly someone pulling in or out and have to split your attention between that. An if someone is coming towards you....
I have no idea why they thought it necessary to put directly in front of the restaurant. Even back 10 feet south would have been better. Or better yet, single racks on the sidewalk parallel tot he track. Sure, there would be less parking but it would be much safer. In fact, they could have kept the same number or more bike spots, made a wall of them from the alley to the street and make a nice barrier that stops people J-walking, which happens all the time there.

I ended up getting the Dura-Ace WH-9000 C24 CL Clincher Wheelset, and the SRAM PG 1070 cassette from probikekit.ca for $1,025 CAD. Canada Post correctly did not charge me duty, and only charged me 5% GST. They did their own FX conversion and based the GST on $940 CAD, which was nice.
When I was doing my research into the rims, the guy at my LBS said that I'd notice the difference immediately, like in the first few pedal strokes. I put them together on Monday afternoon, and I was pretty disappointed that I couldn't tell any difference. I guess I was expecting there to be a motor or something on them. I've commuted on them the last three days, and did my laps of Stanley Park last night. I plugged my Garmin into my computer, and was astonished with the results. I smashed some personal records. On my two hour bike ride last night I got 43 personal trophies. It likely would have been higher, but I was waiting for my friends on the last three laps at the peak each time. Strava gives you your top times for segments, and in some of the segments my top 3-4 times were all from yesterday, as I was doing laps.
On the bike I didn't feel like they were that different, but the results certainly show they were much better. I'm excited to go for some longer rides and see how I/they perform.

Just out of curiosity, does Calgary have any midweek non sanctioned racing series? I didn't see anything on the ABA site.
Edmonton has four spring series road races, a Tuesday night MTB series a Tuesday night criterium series and a Fall Wednesday night CX series. I would think Calgary has a much larger cycling community and could easily support the same.

There is the Wednesday Night Series (WNS):
http://www.calgarycycling.com/page/s...t-series-2016-
The WNS has the same races every year on the same dates on the calendar and the majority of the races are in the SW. The deep SW. Priddis, Bragg Creek, Millarville. If you live in the SW - great. If you live in the NW like me, kind of a hassle. If you're a Crankmaster it's free. Other club members can participate for $5.00/race or something like that.
Midweek Mayhem ran (runs?) a Tuesday night crit series over the summer at UofC and a CX series in the Fall. There have been issues with the City concerning permits, so I'm not sure they do either now. They do have a Facebook Group that may offer some info, but it is a closed group.
A few years back, the Midweek Mayhem guy was moaning about all of the hassles with the City and I suggested we use Currie Barracks for CX during the week and the Rocky Mountain Cadet Camp for weekend races. I could easily get authorization to use both, but I never heard back from the guy.
If you're into track, they run a series on Thursdays I think. Critical Speed used to run an MTB series on Thursday nights at the Paskapoo east slopes. Again, Winsport just wanted too much money which meant Critical Speed wanted money ($15.00 or more if I remember) each week. So, it just died. Why pay when you can ride for free?
I've participated in all of them and track was my favorite quite frankly. But, I just can't justify spending money to race anymore.

I rode 106 kms today, with 1,000 m of ascent. In addition to my commuting, I was doing three rides during the week of 50-70 kms. I decided to reduce my Tuesday ride, and lengthen my Sunday ride. I feel this will help me for the PGAMO, and keep my legs fresher during the week.

Rode hwy 66 Saturday, last day it was closed to traffic until winter. Forgot what a crazy climb it is. Loved having zero cars, that was fun. Spun out my legs yesterday, took today off. Will ride the rest of the week to work.

Haha...always a good feeling! Back when I was walking home from work I'd listen to CBC radio, while walking on a brisk afternoon through fresh snow in the park and my favourite thing to listen to was the traffic report. Brought a smile to my face every time, knowing I wasn't in the middle of it.

Finally back fulltime at my regular office just off Macleod and 58th which means I should be able to ride more regularly now. Just in time with the bridge construction.

People who commute by bike really need to look at the City's bike path map and recommended road routes. Because I'm pretty sure 14th street between Anderson and Heritage isn't on it.

Tried out 7-27 on Moose Mountain this weekend. Unfortunately lots of snow left from Thursday, so had to keep the speed in check a bit, but wow, the first km of that trail is the closest we have to anything Whistler-eque. Amazing build job.

^ how did you get up to this trail - did you ride up or shuttle? if you rode, how is the climb relative to brtagging rights/merlin.
I am hoping to get to canmore over the long weekend and ride the high rockies trail or goat creek

Looks like you may get the tailwind home today. I rode it in this morning, that was kind of fun. Of course I was too dumb to recharge my Garmin so I got all of 10 minutes of my commute recorded. Pretty sure I would have set a new personal best to work.
