Vitali Pinchuk is a 24 years old 6'3 C playing for Minsk Dynamo
Apparently theres a few teams interested once the KHL season is over and I hope the flames are looking at him as well given he would be free to sign. His 200' game needs some work but the rest looks really fun:

Former teammate of Sharangovich (Minsk - 2020-2021).
He also played junior in the OHL (Kingston).
It couldn't hurt to take a chance here.

My POV when rebuilding is why the hell not with anyone. Give them a shot. If they find a Panarin, all the more awesome. If not, well there's more organizational competition for spots and that helps to push the rest of the guys as well. You have to be better than X to be in the NHL go for it.

Wouldn't hurt to offer him a lot of money on an ELC (bonus-heavy) 2-year deal, which can either be re-signed or flipped at the deadline in 2028. I think there's an incentive for him to get allotted some good ice time. He would be given a lot of opportunities to be a top 6 C here.

That's interesting, and first I'm hearing of it. I only heard rumors that VGK's Belarusian goalie is going to make the move to North America, after terminating his contract with St. Petersburg SKA. Pavel Moisevich, was VGK's 3rd round pick in 2024.
Could they end up on the outside and land us a second lottery ticket?
If LA, San Jose, or Seattle ever actually win another game, they just might.
There's a reason why most people never breed racing snails as a hobby.

Since he is 24 years old, it has to be a one year contract.
There is a maximum salary he can get (about $1M I believe) and the bonus structure is pretty standardized.
So expected ice time and decent linemates tend to be the deciding factor.

Median finish: 31st place with 74 points, 15 points ahead of the Canucks, 1 behind the Blackhawks, and 2 behind the Rangers. The Blues remain the only other team forecasted to finish with fewer than 80 points.
Pick first: 12% of simulated seasons
Pick top five: 90% of simulated seasons
Pick top ten: 100% of simulated seasons
Make playoffs: 0% of simulated seasons (89 points to get in)
- Two points separate the Flames/Blackhawks/Rangers. Should be quite the race for 29/30/31 down the stretch.
- Incredible that the East will likely see 2 95-point teams miss the playoffs. Equally, the WC1 Mammoth likely finish with more points than everyone in the woeful Pacific aside from the Ducks.
- The Maple Leafs' median finish is 7th-overall, giving Boston their first-round pick. Chef's kiss.

- Post-trade deadline, the Flames remain the worst team in the league on The Athletic's paper, narrowly behind the Canucks, with the Canucks having accrued an insurmountable lead with respect to actual points. But, the two of them are in a league of their own as the clear worst two teams in the League.

Pinchuk looks pretty damn quick, and speed is definitely lacking on this team.
Wouldn't say he's overly flashy in any other department but looks like he could fit a middle 6 role pretty well.
With that said, we've already got a pretty big log jam right now, who goes to make room?

Whoever loses their spot by the end of next training camp.
Doesn’t seem like a problem to me. GMCC will find surplus players new NHL teams to play for.

Forward likely to be gone by September: Olofsson
Forwards possibly not returning by September: Lomberg, Beecher
Forwards likely to be traded anywhere between June and the TDL: Coleman, Strome, possibly Frost
Forwards likely to miss several games due to injury: Zary, Pospisil, Honzek, (Huberdeau ?)
I think there is enough flexibility to give a guy like Pinchuk a real shot.

I feel there's a decent chance Huberdeau finishes his contract with the Flames on LTIR.
Given the scope of his surgery, I'd be pretty shocked if Huberdeau is able to continue playing hockey at an NHL level until age 38.
P. Kane was able to return after having hip resurfacing in 2023. All of Backstrom, Jovanovski, Hagelin and Kessler played less than 50 games and called it quits. Klingberg has played 53 games so far. His TOI has begun to decrease substantially.

And Kane has a very unique ability to still be effective while hardly moving.
Ya I think Huberdeaus last year or 2 will be a nice handshake agreement with the flames to get the insurance money and free up the cap when they need it

At this point, I expect Huberdeau to be legitimately unable to play for at least the last couple of years of his contract. No handshake required.
