I think it's a good move. Capello needs another tournament, maybe 2 plus there's no great replacement. If Pierce is to be groomed into a manager then for sure he'll need 1 or 2 more campaigns.

I am officially done world cup betting. I put in 50 euros, bet 30 on Netherlands to win it all and played with the other 20 match to match.

Eventually by the end of the round robin I turned that 20 bucks into just over 1,000. Then I lost it all on that last minute goal Japan scored against Denmark.
