Star Trek (Nemesis) really pissed me off tonight. I don't know why, but I just can't suspend disbelief for bad science fiction anymore.

I'd rather watch Final Frontier everyday for the rest of my life then watch Nemesis.

It doesn't even matter the story was terrible. I expect that from science fiction in general and Star Trek specifically. I go into a Star Trek movie (especially a TNG movie) and just assume it's going to be bad.

It just really bothers me that they spent millions of dollars and had dozens of people making a big scene where four capital ships are flying around in tight circles shooting at each other and not one single nerd looked up and said, "fighters"?

They've basically taken the navy fighting manual from 1895 and put it in space. With lazers. I can't get past that anymore.

But at least Riker grew a pair and FINALLY took his own command.

Wow, I never really thought of it that way. I guess they are suppose to be "discovering new worlds" and not really fighting ships. The lasers are there for minor encounters.

But you would think after meeting up with Romulans, Klingons, etc. (from original series) they would equip the ships with....FIGHTERS!

Funny conversation from one of my friends (regarding her husbands layoff) and she isn't working, can't find a job...

(Friends cell phone rings, caller ID: its from her home... context knowing that today is the day his company, National Semiconductor, is doing mass layoffs)

Friend : "... oh crap..." (husband should be at work, sensing that her husband just got layed off and is calling from home)

(picks up phone)

Husband : "Hey honey, guess what?"

Friend: : "... damn it"

Husband : "I'm joining your fraternatity" (i.e. the unemployed)

Friend : "oh crap... now what?"

Husband : "lets go for drinks to celebrate. I think we should do a road trip to Mexico"

She's in a a panic, he's celebrating at his new freedom. It honestly made my day.

Sometimes I really enjoy acting like a dick to opposing fans. Usually I am not that harsh one way or another but for some reason I like to beat them down like a red headed stepchild every so often. I'm not even just talking on the board, in real life too.

My favourite line is to tell them it's not their team I hate, it's the fans. That comment never fails to elicit a frown and a return shot, and then the battle is on.

I am now at war with our doctor's receptionist. I've just informed her that I won't be stopping and will be taking all means necessary until she's been fired.
