These are some photos I took through my Celestron 6SE telescope with my Canon a couple weeks ago of the Moon when it was really smokey. Unfortunately with the zoom and the rate that the Moon moved across the frame I couldn't get a full shot without cutting a bit off, but they still turned out okay.

I'm hoping to - flying home from Vancouver that evening, and I should be home early enough to set up. I'd really like to try and get a time lapse video & some photos. We'll see!

Oh man thanks for this. Reasonable time, low altitude, possibly not freezing. Should look pretty great from Edworthy Park at about 200mm (full-frame equivalent).
True story, I didn't actually pay attention to the route I saw on google maps, and turned a 2.5 drive from Abbotsford BC to Kamloops BC into a 4.5 hour drive because "oh I'm sure it's just the #1 highway dear.".
Although watching the sunset here might have been worth it.

Had a good drive today. Picked a couple of spots east of Drumheller that are true ghost towns. Unfortunately that means that any remains were for the most part on private property.
However, on my way down a backroad, came across a very cool old homestead.
I grew up Brandon Manitoba, while both my parents are from rural Saskatchewan, so many memories from my youth are from worn down prairie towns like Indian Head (population 1,815). Abandoned cars/farm equipment, plywood covered window... and lord the drinking. Lack of opportunity outside of the hog plants make these places pretty easy to leave at 22.
Heck my hometown's core is looking more and more like urban decay porn then an actual city.
But having said all that, Tim Smith of Brandon paints a much nicer picture of the area, his Hutterites series was recently on the New York Times website... so it's not all bad.
