They really need to fix these rules. It's ridiculous.

Looks like being the Jays opening day starter is a sure fire way to find yourself out of the league the next season. Stromans done.

Giving up 19 hits in 8 innings is certainly something. Let's hope for a 5 run ninth !

Time for Stroman to go to the bullpen or to AAA. I'd prefer the AAA route. Hopefully gain some confidence and find his game. I'm all for bringing Hutchinson up now (I thought he was Ricky Romero type of done before the season started).

Is it possible for Floyd to take Stroman's spot if they send him to the bullpen or AAA? He was battling for that 5th starter position in spring training, and almost won it. Is it too late now that he's been in the bullpen for almost 3 months?

Not too late, but Hutchinson is already stretched out and performed well in AAA. You got to give him a shot before Floyd. Home grown and has more upside.

Is that written in stone yet? I haven't seen the Jays come right out and say that.

Likely they will swap them with Chavez and/or Hutchison.

Well Sanchez was planned - I don't think Stroman has an innings limit and I don't think they saw his decline coming so early in the season.

Both had an innings limit. It was implied a lot in the preseason broadcasts. Because of his injury it was implied Stroman had a shorter leash than Sanchez. I always expected Stroman to go to the bullpen even before he started to tank. Sanchez surprises me. I knew they would skip some starts (which I thought was perfect to get Hutchinson back in here), but I didn't think they would outright shut him down to the pen.
Pretty ridiculous if this was there plan all along. Should have went out there and got another established starter in free agency.
Seems pretty clear to me that Bautista is going to be moved for a starter ahead of the trading deadline. We have nothing left in our system anyone would want other than Guerrero and he should be untouchable.

Well they better try something and fast. I'm not of the opinion the bullpen is going to do much for Stroman or any struggling starter but maybe a week off or a short stint in AAA will turn things around for him. Running him out there every start, expecting a different result isn't doing much besides beating his confidence down.
Last I heard, Hutchinson was performing well in the minors. It can't hurt to give him 2-3 starts in place of Stroman.

Didn't the Jays just play 20 games in 20 days sort of a deal. Only the Dodgers and Diamondbacks are even with the Jays in terms of games played. Might be an idea going into the break to bring in Hutch for a spot start and skip a start for Stroman and or Sanchez going into the Allstar break.

If I am Gibbons I would have left Estrada in, 88 pitches, gave up only 2 hits.
Dang. Now Chavez gives up a solo shot.

Marco Estrada has set a major league baseball record dating back to when they moved the mound to 60' 6" in 1893.
He is the first pitcher to throw at least 6 innings and give up 5 hits or fewer in 11 consecutive starts ever.
Marco Estrada....MLB record holder. Thanks Milwaukee.
