I actually have a really weird , optimistic feeling about this lottery today. One can always hope, right?

I don't disagree but I did say bluff
Also never said what Colorado offered. But let's say Colorado makes an offer that is tempting, that's when hopefully you get Florida.
Colorado offers, for example, their 1st and say the 15th that they acquired some how.
Drouin+15th>MacKinnon (and if you feel differently adjust the offer I guess)
Feaster calls Tallon and says give us your 2nd to draft 1st and pick Jones or else Colorado gets him. And of course that relies on Florida actually really wanting Jones also.
So sort of works out to be something like:
MacKinnon+32nd>Drouin+15th>MacKinnon
I guess all I'm saying is if Florida and Colorado both really want Jones the team to win the lottery should be able to pit them against each other here if they aren't set on Jones themselves.

They can have their pick other than Sven and Brodie, IMO. But I think in Feaster's opinion, Gio and Glencross are on that list too.

I think that gets too cute for me. A center position is an absolute must with the Flames' first rounder. The only exception I'd consider would be Jones... and I don't think he ranks above MacKinnon for me. I think, right now, I have MacKinnon>Jones>Barkov>Monohan>Lindholm>Drouin.
It's totally a result of being a center-starved Flames fan.

Honestly the worst thing that would happen if the other team has an unlikely change of heart, is we get to draft the No 1 ranked player in the draft... which I'd be ok with.

If we won, I would look to trade with Colorado for the 3rd pick
I would think that they would pay up big time
And as much as I want MacKinnon, Barkov ++ > MacKinnon
Plus, there is still a chance that Florida doesn't take MacKinnon at which point you have MacKinnon ++

Get both Lindholm and Monahan 😎
I think the Flames would have to add a little to the deal, though

MacT suggested he might be receptive to trading their pick to a team with multiple 1st round picks.

Something inside of me is convinced that we will win the lottery tonight. I just feel it in my gut. I can't explain it though. Guess I will belive it if it happens.

I think is is a plausible situation. If Florida really want Jones (rated the top prospect plus fills a need) they might make that trade to ensure they get him. You never know if on draft day Colorado goes all Ditka and offers all their picks so they can get Jones. Definitely only works if Colorado is genuinely interested (which I think they are) and Florida is paranoid enough to think Colorado may be crazy enough to overpay to get Jones.
If someone is going to overpay I think you need to listen.

Columbus I think is the only team then. I can't imagine with the old school mentality that the Oilers would trade with Calgary. Especially because it impacts them directly and they would never want to be on a bad side of a potentially block buster trade. Trading a over the hill Staios for a late pick and srub is one thing. Trading away a top ten pick to a rival would never happen.

So essentially Tyler Myers for a high second round pick?
No way the Flames and Oilers are trading partners

Wouldnt like that oilers deal. Giordano + Pitt 1st for 7th would be the absolute max i would give up.

We need to keep in mind that there are some rumblings that MacKinnon will end up being a winger in the NHL. It is possible the Flames see him as a winger long term.

If that's the case, I don't want him. I want someone who the Flames see as a center long term. If he happens to switch to the wing due to the Flames acquiring better centers, fine, but I hope they don't go into the draft wanting to convert the pick to the wing right away.

If we are drafting 3rd, and McKinnon and Jones are gone, I would go with the consensus 3rd pick and go with Drouin.

Flames badly need RW's too and i'd rather have a 90-100 pt RW than a 70-80 pt center

Honestly, at that point in the draft, I am not sure there will be much of a difference as I see the Blues making a pretty deep run these playoffs.
However, I do think Giordano is a guy the Oilers would love to have and honestly, it seems like his head was just not in it this past season (still a very good dman however)
