Did anyone see the preview of Global Calgary news for Monday? I only caught a little bit of it but I'm almost certain they mentioned the Wannamaker contest. I wonder if they'll discuss the... ummm... excellent turnout?
It only makes sense they'd follow up considering this: http://www.globaltvcalgary.com/video...24#top+stories
...but it seems early. I wonder if there have been any media types hanging out?

Followed your lead tonight at work. During lunch break a few of us actually were 'talking about vagina'. One of our co-workers walks in as we're all laughing about something, and then everything quiets down. He gives me a WTF look so I lean over and say 'They're talking about vagina'. Myself and the one other guy in the lunchroom who had actually seen the video laughed until we had tears.

Still not a peep from the Wannamaker camp eh?
Not surprising I guess. She's probably a shy unassuming girl who is shocked and maybe even a little bit embarrassed that she got so many votes, and so much attention.

I thought this was her:

I think in the four years I have been "lurking" unregistered after discovering this site (thanks to the recommendation of a person who I am and will be eternally grateful to), I can only recall being compelled to actually register and post 3 times. All 3 instances have happened in the year of Wannamaker, aka 2011:
1) During the Canucks cup run when I desperately wanted to give my "why I hate the entire Canucks franchise" sermon....but fortunately was unable to (due to closed registration as a consequence of nuckle trolls), as I would have likely landed myself a lifetime suspension with what would have probably ensued;
2) When I wanted to engage calgaryborn in a futile debate about pro-choice/life in the thread about why having a spare tire in your car, is not the same as preparing for the possibility of rape;
AND
3) When Michael Ha made an indirect return to this epic CP thread by trying to sabotage CP's jihadn't through twitter. That was the TSN turning point for me; up until then, I had been happy to lurk away and amuse myself with the unfolding events, but as I caught up on the explosion of pages late into the evening yesterday, I felt in that moment as I read those words, that I was being personally attacked and that I had to take action. Thank you Michael for compelling me to exercise my meaningless democratic right. And for giving me the boot to finally register and come out of the shadows. You taught me that it's never too late to join a righteous fight; even if you're basically the deadbeat father who jumps into the ring after his amazing kid has already pummelled his obnoxious opponent to the ground. I felt pretty good about myself for helping deliver some last inconsequential kicks.
And on that note, I am going to fade back into my familiar shadows, and continue to enjoy the warm comfort, entertainment, useful information, and surreal laughter that this forum, and the people in it, provide me on a daily basis.
THANKS CP. You are the philanthropic comedian billionaire brother I never had.
(and special thanks goes out to KC for that video - I can't remember the last time I had hysterical tears, but your efforts made me flood the place)

I guess it is possible she didn't know what her own last name was.

That post also talks about lurking for 4 years and only posting 3 times once they actually registered (including the playoffs).

Just one last bump - so, nobody ever heard back from her, and that's that?

Nope, Wannamaker is a ghost. Don't think anyone will ever hear from her. If she hasn't responded to messages by this point, there's not a likely chance that she will.

I'm cool with that. We didn't do this for Wannamaker, we did it for Michael Ha (and he responded in a few ways that were awesome).

Wannamaker probably can't cope with the new found fame and fortune ($1500) as she is overwhelmed with the success and she is now too stressed out to do anything!! She is afraid even to get up from her bed now...

I say leave it open until the end of the week. They might not have even done the notification to her yet... This is also her first day back at school since the big win, maybe there is a student there who reads CP and will let her know.
Hell, maybe people were messaging the wrong wannamaker?! Give it time, she will surface.

Agreed on shutting it down soon. This thread the past couple days reminds me of watching Michael Jordan at the end of his career. Sad to watch a legend fall back to average status.

I would think the best thing to do would be to bump the Hitler movie as the final post and then close the thread.

Agreed, thread should be ended at downfall video, and everything after should be purged out into oblivion.
Also, mods should add 1 thanks for every user for the video. I don't care if you didn't like it, you still owe it thanks.
