Container traffic is also moving (some of ours just left VanTerm this AM) so the rail lines must be open. Will be interesting to see what happens when they hit CN down in Ogden though.

Is it ok to run a pressure washer now, or is the water ban (reduction) still on? I see people on twitter asking for one....

I want to say kudos to Telus and Shaw for opening up their services to people in Calgary via free Open WiFi and free long-distance calling for Telus customers. It's been a real help connecting with friends and family here and in Ontario from the areas where the power is out. I will be sending both of them a great thank-you letter. They made the right moves during this crisis.

I really like the #hellorhighwater thing - The Stampede should adopt that as the slogan for this year's stampede and plaster it everywhere. So good.

Just got a note from Bigtime:
 Hi Surferguy,

Could you post on CP that I could use help emptying the basement with anyone that has hip waders? Tell them I'm 4A street with a canoe paddle in front of the house.

 Thanks,

 Bigtime

I need to go in to work for a few hours and then I'd need to buy hipwaders... Think he will still need help after 4:00 this afternoon?

I wonder if anywhere in town would still have hipwaders in stock?

Couldn't agree more. I'm not even the biggest fan of the Stampede and I'm telling you right now if they made a T-shirt with that on it I'd buy one for every member of my family. Donate a percentage of the profits to flood relief and I think they would have people lining up for them.

I saw some at Canadian Tire in Beacon Hill. Along with some rubber boots. I was just there this morning trying to get some.

They would have to supply enough power to the building to get the concessions and lights going, but that could be a temporary connection if necessary. Concerts often run their own power distribution anyway, so they could just plug the lights and sound into a generator outside.

I'm guessing there will be a lot of this at the stampede to make it work. Use temporary connections, that will be replaced with permanent connections after the stampede.

I think the biggest thing the saddledome has going for it is the "temporary" metal seating in the lower bowl...you literally just roll those right out of the building.
