Don't remember the exact wording, and can't rewind, but it was pretty clear.

She'd have to make amends for her pro pipeline stance if she ever went federal.

No matter how often I see him, Rob Brown’s legacy is still navigating through the Vancouver riots as being the guy on the ground.

I agree with whomever suggested that she run for leadership of the federal NDP... She could help bring them back from the brink and help split the left ... Alternatively, someone get the defibrillator paddles and bring back Jack Layton, please!!
Jack Layton was a vitriolic, self serving pos. Probably the most toxic party leader in the last 40 years, not counting separatists.

He died so now people pretend he wasn't actually a jerk.

Not at all. In fact she should lead.

Let's look at her accomplishments:

- Raised existing taxes. Added new taxes. Second province to have a carbon tax.
- No pipeline to tidewater. TM2 is dead.
- Reduced growth of oil extraction.
- Managed to convince oil companies to stop producing. This is a huge, huge deal. A gov't convinced private companies, of their own accord, to stop extracting the most vile substance on earth.

Yeah, I get that, and definitely don’t think it was right. I was kind of hoping those same people had some helpful advice.

A public sector employee already makes over 10 percent more than an equivalent private sector employee. Add on the pension and this apparent 'right' to job security and, wow, maybe I should join the public service!!
Again, no reason to be a dick. This is a person worried about losing their job if there are cuts made, and the fear (though, seems to be a little unfounded) is that cuts are coming soon. It’s not about a “right” to job security. Cuts happen, they seem to understand that, it’s that the likelihood of cuts to them has gone up and gotten closer.

I appreciate the need to make this some rant about public sector workers for you, but maybe not the best time or place.

If I had phrased the question “my friend is in a industry that’s gotten really rocky and is worried about losing their job, what should I say?” would you be better able to provide useful advice?

But thanks again to GGG and Estrada for their responses, I don’t think it made them feel better, but at least I have them something!

Didn't say I wanted him for a lover. I want the guy because he was able to split the left vote in a way we haven't seen since his passing. If we want a CPC majority, we need a strong NDP.

Fair point - I didn't mean to attack an individual. I suppose emotions are running a bit high tonight on all sides. Apologies if it came across as a personal attack on you or your friend.

You are right. I was one of those dicks and I apologize.
They do do a thankless job and I appreciate it. Also as an ex business owner it seemed to me the left and that government took advantage of me even though I risked my house and relationships to be a successful business owner. When someone keeps asking for more and the economy crashes you become bitter.
