Well I'm not going to compare him to ekblad Reinhart or Bennett because they are the top 3 without question. Draisatl seems to be four with his size speed and puck possession, but even he has question marks. Ehlers and nylander don't seem skilled enough to make up for their lack of size to be picked at 5 or 6. Richie I like and if he comes to the combine in shape then he will be considered for sure. Perlini I admit I haven't seen much of but from what I hear his offensive prowess is a touch below the other tops prospects. Am I missing anyone?

Dal Colle
Fleury seems to be at best the 6th guy but more likely a 8-12 guy in most pre-rankings.
It's great the you are a Rebels fan and like him but others not thinking he is a top 5 guy is hating on him or underrating defenseman.

Still waiting for you guys to criticize fleury. Not me. Hey I think Richie and dal colle are good prospects and try help us out a lot too. I'm just trying to soften the blow because I think picking him is a real possibility. Burke picked Morgan Reilly? He's smaller less aggressive and his offensive upside isn't that much higher than fleurys. And fleury has a moon-high potential defensively with his strength, mentality, skating and size.

Dal colle I like because he reminds me of iggy light. His potential is very high. But he seems kinda lazy. The thing I love about out team is we have the heart and soul. The mark giordanoness, heart, passion never die attitude. I think we stray away from that a little if we bring in dal colle and that's the only thing that worries me about him.

Fleury just isn't that good.
The Rebels play the typical Brent structure which allows Fleury to look better in his insulated environment defensively. He makes safe plays but nothing in his puck moving or vision is spectacular. Offensively he has an alright wrister but he's the kind that will pick up a lot of second assists just because he touched the puck earlier on in a play. He's not actually driving offense most of the time.
If it weren't such a weak draft year, the guy might not even be a 1st round pick. He's not even as good as Madison Bowey was last year, and he went in the 50s.
None of his skills are elite. Does a lot of things alright, but alright doesn't cut it for a top-10 or in your case a top-5 pick.
He'll never be an elite player. Oh and to say Morgan Reilly's offensive upside is only a bit higher than Fleury's is asinine. Fleury is not even in the same stratosphere as Morgan Reilly.

I feel like breaking up a bunch of glass bottles on to my desk, like 6 or 7 of them, and just slamming my face into the pile of broken glass.
That's how this is making me feel.

Not as good as Madison Bowey. Wow. Just stop. If you say he looks good because he's on the rebels you are just wrong. Watch him the top prospects game and tell me he's not the second best player on the ice behind Sam Reinhart.

Not criticizing Fleury in any way, he is by far the #2 defenseman in the draft. However, Burke clearly stated there is only one defenseman in the top 10. Our pick will most likely be at #5, so picking Fleury at #5 is a bit too risky. Burke wants size, truculence, looking for top 6 potential. We need another power forward who can score. Defense is not the issue after seeing the additions of Russell and Smid, and especially how Wotherspoon was playing.
With that being said, you should really be looking at Draisaitl/Dal Colle/Ritchie as our pick at #5. Yes, we are a little short on defensive prospects, but Burke was able to manage an additional 2nd and 3rd pick, picks we can use on defenseman.

He's not. Bowey skates better, has better offensive instincts and moves the puck better. Bowey has a way higher upside though it's unclear if he'll that max level. Anyway Bowey is irrelevant to this discussion, just included him to demonstrate that he was a 2nd rounder last year in a strong draft and that he has a higher upside than Fleury who you are advocating to take top 5 this year.
Fleury is going to be a second-pairing guy at best in the NHL. He's a quietly effective guy that will be valuable to a team but you don't pick those kinds of players in the top 5.

Morgan Rielly is light years beyond Fleury in offense. Light Years.

I certainly don't think Bowey is better than Fleury and would much rather Fleury but that doesn't mean that Fleury is the right pick at 5.
As for "criticizing" him my concerns is that he has very limited offensive upside, his skating is fine but not great, he is a good defensive and physical player but not so amazing to ignore his limits in other areas.
I think if the Flames were drafting 8-10 I would be very happy drafting him. He seems to have a decent chance of being a 2nd pairing/Pker guy and solid NHL guy for a number of years. But their are guys in the draft ahead of him with more skill, are better players now and have a higher upside than he does.

Ok sorry for generalizing. But it's true that most of CP has a HUGE bias to statistically impressive prospects and forwards.

Most hockey/sports fans have that bias.
It isn't anything particular to CP at all.

I just looked at your post history (didn't take long you only had 50 or less posts)... can't find one post that were you claimed ristolainen or morin or zadarov would be available at 22. Nor did a lot of CP posters freak out at you for saying anything about the draft last year.
You are welcome to your own opinions, but resorting to hyperbole and/or lying won't convince anyone you are right.
