Well I don't really want to play ME3 until I've played the ME2 DLC. And I don't really want to buy the ME2 DLC until it goes on sale. So why would I buy ME3 now? To get BF3 which I already have (and haven't installed, because I should probably play BFBC2 first)?

It's not so much a boycott like I think it's going to make a difference, it's more like general resentment combined with a logical response to their behaviour. I just got my Dota 2 Beta and I have a huge backlog of other games, so ME3 can wait for a price drop or even better for EA to cave and put it on Steam.

Had the DLC been available on Steam and resonably priced, it probably would've been a pre-order.

Yeah so it turns out they completely boned the character importer in re: faces. My ME2 shep, when brought into ME3, looks completely different. This is partly a result of the importer simply not working (how could no one have NOTICED this before release) and partly a result in a significant change in how the game "looks" overall compared to the last one. Someone else whining about this complained that it's sort of like watching Last Crusade except instead of Harrison Ford they've got Bruce Willis playing Indy with Harrison Ford's voice dubbed in.

I had this problem too, but it was only a goatee. The guy kinda looks like Iggy.

I decided I wanted to tweak the look of my Shep in ME2 (since the character creation options had improved (or at least seemed like they had))... I'll probably tweak it again for ME3... I did it for the demo, I can do it again.

I've genuinely petrified after every choice I make. Even the little ones, because I know in terms of War Assets they're going to impact things down the road.

it was the same problem in ME2. different facial structures, hair styles, features, etc, so your character never quite looks the same as they did from the previous game. all i did for ME2 and now ME3 is go back to one of the standard templates and remake my Shepherd with the new setup. not that big of a deal

Meh, the changes from 2 to 3 didn't take me very long to tweak to make it look almost identical. I tried to do that with this one and my first try was a failure - in game animations look pretty different so it's hard to guesstimate on the character creation page. I anticipate spending several hours trying to get the features right.

Not sure I like this whole war assets thing, kind of feels like the tacked on tower defense stuff in AC.

Though I assume if you even just followed the main plot (which I don't) you'd end up with enough.

Also it seems way too easy to set off the Reaper horn when exploring the systems.

From what I have read, if you don't plan on playing multiplayer, you pretty much have to do every side mission/scan every planet to get the "optimal" ending.

People are blasting through the main quest, skipping the side missions and still getting a bleak ending. Playing the multiplayer makes it easier to gather war assets incase you miss a mission or screw one up. To me, this sucks as I have no intention of touching the multiplayer.

I was shocked this morning when I had read that people had already finished the game, and then were b5tching that there wasn't enough content.

Seriously if your going to blast through a game, spend 20 hours straight on it, and not explore the gaming world then your not playing the game to enjoy it, or the work that was put into making it.

Its like the weiners on SWTOR that level 50'd within 3 days of getting it and then whine that there was nothing to do.

Yep. Stuff like that has always amused me. If you blast through everything, of course they can't make it fast enough for you. Despite getting into TOR a week early, my first toon just hit 50 yesterday. I've got some alts, and have explored a lot. Done a lot of stuff, and don't find myself lacking for things to do when I log in.

Totally agee. Seems pointless to spend all that money to try and finish it as fast as possible. It took me 2 hours just to get to the Citadel last night, I tried to explore every nook and cranny that I could, for hidden weapons/med packs etc. I'm actually scared to finish the game because that means it's over

As for SWTOR, I have 1 toon(Sith Assassin) that I have 370 hours into already

I felt the same way with ME1&2... put off finishing the main quest until I was damn sure I'd done EVERYTHING else...

It's the same reason I haven't finished (and likely won't ever finish) Skyrim.

Thanks for that, I'm the kind of person that'll play all the side missions and stuff anyway, but that's good to know.

You get to make a grand total of two choices, vast majority are left out....in short it doesnt makeup for not having a me1 or me2 savefile

Having read further on this, the problem is essentially that they replaced the assets - as you say, different facial structures and features - which had been consistent in the first two games. Which is why everything seems "off". I'm still going to try to get it as close as possible but there's a bunch of people on the bioware forums who are losing their minds over this. I read a thread where the majority of posters had "I AM NOT PLAYING UNTIL I HAVE MY SHEPARD BACK" as their signatures. Foreseeable reaction given the core audience.
