I'd be very surprised if their claims are remotely close to true. As you say, these are people that will shamelessly do anything to promote themselves, and the entire article reads like someone inventing charges on an ever increasing level of severity. It just sounds like "Hmm, that last charge wasn't bad enough yet. I'll claim a worse one to gain more sympathy."
So, really, they were strip searched, groped, threatened with rape, threatened with physical assault ("broken bones"), threatened with dogs, yelled at for choosing to remain silent, and somehow it is all Ed Stelmach's fault.
And yet, somehow, not a peep of this is heard for a full year. Uh huh, sure guys. Tooootally believable.
