tom's hardware just did a performance benchmark for TOR with a bunch of video cards used. Could give you an idea of what kind of settings you can run with your machine.

I think this is probably what I was trying to say regarding the "objectively looking at WoW" but in a very succinct manner. It's a better game, but yeah, it's gotten pretty old for a lot of people.
Btw, I am actually really really excited for TOR. I think it's got a wonderful foundation to build on, and hopefully they will deliver on a lot of their promises. I just like to defend WoW, because Blizzard has done a lot of great things with their game that people don't see because they reminisce about the days where they grinded world pvp for 23 hours a day for a high warlord title and wonder why it's taken out of the game.

I was listening to a podcast today about SWTOR and they were talking about being in a group and questing... they had most of their info.. not wrong but they didn't seem to understand pieces of it... I spent about 12 hours on the Nov 24th beta grouped with a buddy while leveling - just to kind of experience what that was like. We both played Consulars so as to not spoil 2 class stories simultaneously. We selected different AC's though. We were on vent which made things easier of course.
A few things I noticed that I thought I would share.
- There is an game option/preference about allowing the same classes into class story areas (something like that). Before toggling this it seemed to mean the first person to enter a green doorway owned it. It then turned the doorway blue for the other player and if they came in they can help you but even though they are on the same quest and helping it does not count towards their objectives. Meaning it had to be repeated with the other player leading the way for you both to be complete. Toggling this option meant that when the first person entered the door it remained green for the other player and when they crossed the threshold a pop-up window let them choose "create new" or "join" - So because these are meant to be done by a single player we found it much faster to create a new instance and both complete our quests alone but simultaneously... it became a bit of a mini game to see who was done first, of course neither of us would skip the cut scenes as we wanted to know what was said. It saves a lot of time not having to do each class area twice. Of course I do not think this would matter as much if you played different classes.
- If you both have the same quests to turn in one of you can run to the quest guy on the east side of town while the other runs to the west. once one of you starts a conversation with the quest giver the other player that is too far away has the option to join via a holocam/projection. This again can speed up the time it takes to turn in or pick up quests, especially in a spread out area. You still see the cut scene but your character is a projection instead of flesh and blood... One thing of note is if certain conversation options lead to a physical action. Like say killing the NPC or throwing them off a ledge the hologram character cannot select those conversation options. They would be grayed out.
I think those are the big pieces no one seems to know much about... all in all it was a fun Saturday, but more something I'd reserve for an Alt than my main. I would not always want to be grouped... although for low level toons we had a heck of a social rank building up.

There is major nerd rage on forums as bioware is saying no grace period before entering your retail code... so if you ordered online ... you may be screwed from the 20th-.... .. when ever your mail arrives...

Just ordered the online version, not the box, so I think I'll be okay. Sucks for those people who ordered the boxes, though.

Early Access started today. Judging by the reddit thread, it's mostly the July 23rd and July 24th people that are getting in (first 2 days pre-order was available).
I pre-ordered Nov. 11th with the weekend test, and I'm thinking around friday is when I'm getting in.
Post to see when you guys get in and your pre-order date!

Wish they would have based it off of order date.

"Today, we invited people who had pre-ordered up to the very beginning of October (roughly). Tomorrow, we're going to be inviting the same number of people again; that will take us up to the last week or so of November. On Friday, we'll be inviting even more, and we'll give you an update on that tomorrow."
Looks like I'll get in on Friday. That's SOOOOO long
