I watched what I thought was the finale last week, so finally went and read this thread... and turns out I had one more episode to go.

I knew it wouldn't happen but I hoping that Jax and his mother would have been killed off.

I wasn't that shocked to see her get killed. As good as this show is, the dialogue has a habit of telegraphing these things. It seems any time there is some type of redemption or "I love you" moment, you just get the feeling like they are saying goodbye. I think it is by design though... they like to instill that sense of inescapable impending doom a lot of the time.

I was more shocked to see the sheriff killed than anything. Tara on the other hand, seemed doomed after her and Jax sorted things out. As soon as it was made known that Jax was going to go turn himself in for Tara, the fist thought I had was that Gemma was going to have to kill Tara.

Started this show about 3 weeks ago and caught up today. Season 6 finale was intense with Tara's death. I think the episode with Opie's death was actually more intense with the way he died. Jax will get blamed for Tara's death but something will happen where he gets out because they won't have him in prison for the entire final season. I hope Jax kills his mom at some point in season 7 but I think the opposite could happen where Gemma keeps the boys at the end of the series and they fast forward with Abel finding Jax's notes.

I really can't wait for next season which sounds like it'll be the last.

I just powered through season 6 a few weeks ago. The ending was shocking moreso for the manner in which it ended (the brutal nature of the murder), not necessarily who died apart from Roosevelt which was quite surprising. But the whole season was building to a Tara versus Gemma showdown...and when you remember Gemma is sleeping with the shows creator, it made it pretty obvious who was going to go.

But speaking of Sutter, I have to air my biggest complaint about the show, and I doubt I'm alone here: The ####ing musical montages. Like at least one every episode, often two and sometimes more. There was one episode in season 6 where I believe there were three in the first 20 minutes of the show. It doesn't enhance the show in any way, I'm glad Kurt likes music and that his wife sings, but so what? Especially this season when every episode felt strecthed out unnecessarily long. Show has run its course and 7 is a good time to end it.

Maybe its just me but I actually like those musical montages. The songs are pretty good and when it pans from character to character, it gives it a much more ''family'' like feeling. I dunno, I'm a fan of them.

The show does need to end next season though, I agree. In fact I think it should have ended this season as I feel it's lost some of it's humor. Obviously with the cliffhanging ending it had to go on, but anything after season 7 will push it into Dexter territory.

I'm super excited for the last season. I'm glad they are ending it next season, as I don't think there can be much more that could happen. it'll just be how it ends and how it plays out now. This show has a way of surprising me, whether that be how it plays out when I know what's going to happen, or what I think will happen based on how it plays out.

I agree though. Tara's death, although expected, was incredibly disturbing in how it happened and the brutality of it. It took me a couple hours to calm down after watching that episode. Similar to Opie's death in how I felt.

Agreed about the music. And while Katey Sagal has a pretty good voice, I just don't think it fits for the show. It feels all forced and awkward.

What's the most recent season they have aired?

I think they're two years behind (the promo on the FX Canada site is for season 4). If so, Season 5 should start airing in September, and Season 6 in September 2015.

If they're now only one year behind, then Season 6 will start this September.

I like this teaser from Kurt Sutter:

Quote:
“Sons of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter is teasing fans with Season 7 drama. The mastermind behind the FX series revealed to his Twitter followers just how bloody the final installment of the show is going to be when it returns in September.

“On a scale of 1 to Red Wedding, what are we in for here?” @Wumpaa asked Sutter on July 1.

“Let’s just say you’ll soon be calling that other episode BED WETTING,” Sutter responded.

well not really ... you only missed the death of a couple major characters and also some supporting characters. So basically just another day in Charming I guess ...

So we started the show at season 1 earlier this summer, it has taken up a lot of our evening walk time but other than that I have really enjoyed it. Finally all caught up and ready for season 7. Totally saw the Tara thing coming from episodes away, there was no way that the star goes to jail so you know she has to die.

Charlie Hunnam is a horrible actor, but he still makes the show what it is... he plays the character well enough for me to just accept it. Saskatoon boy Tig is my favorite though, the parts with the trans gender are hilarious. Second favorite would definitely be Pearlman, he was just solid in his role.
