For a little over one minute until Iginla & Nash took the most idiotic offside I've seen in ages. That shift had a lot to do with some great work by the blueliners (sorry, can't recall who was on). One great shift != great chemistry, it equals desperation.

The problem is, we have little to no sampling to compare it to. And comparing the use of that line against the use of Crosby and Nash on every other line, this one has been IMO the most effective. There was:
- The Game against Norway, where the line looked dead with Bergeron on it, but was great with Iginla on the line (3 goals is good, even if it is against a team like Norway)
- Maybe half a period of Nash/Crosby/Iginla in Swiss game, where they looked about as good as every other line before getting seperated. They were much more useless with Toews on the line
- The last few minutes of the 3rd against the US. It is notable that they did dominate the US and pinned them in their own end.
The problem here is that there is not a large sample size. The best one is against a very poor team and the rest are too short to figure out if they mean anything. I just know that Iginla, Crosby, and Nash all have looked the best with each other from what I've seen.

Crosby -- "I think any combinations are going to be successful, but like you said, we were desperate and looking for a goal there and everyone turned it up so we were able to generate some chances. I thought everyone as a whole played hard and tried to battle and held on to the puck".
So, he's either being diplomatic or a dick.
Oh, this was a quote on finding some chemistry with Iginla on his line tonight.
And, not everyone on the team "held on to the puck"....perry

If Sweden beats Finland in OT tonight, AFAIK the top seeds would be as such:
1. USA 9 pts +9
2. Sweden 8 pts +5
3. Finland 7 pts +8
4. Russia 7 pts +7
So if this occurs, and the prelims go as expected, sets up a Canada / Finland quarterfinal

Sure, fair enough. I agree that's been the best combination with Crosby. My issue is that I think a line with Sidney Crosby on it can be a lot better than that. Maybe Heatley, Crosby, Marleau, something like that, to me would be a nightmare for the other team. I'm not thinking it through completely, because obviously this shakes up all the lines, but in my mind you build your best line around Sidney Crosby, and you build three other lines with what's left over.

The way the announcers were talking about it, it seems like the group winners are the top three seeds regardless of points.
Which would be Russia in third place setting up a quarter final match up with Canada/Germany, just like the announcers were talking about.

Wait what? Mayer fata'd this up.
Luongo didn't ask to be put on the first line, a reporter asked him and luongo said it wasn't his call - "I'm here for Team Canada, not roberto luongo"
which is a classy response.

Huh? Are you really confused or is this post a joke that I'm missing?

We win either way with Luongo in net (Canada wins or we get to complain about Luongo...)...so...
Plus, Brodeur looked worse than ever tonight.

At this point here I don't see how one could excuse not putting in Luongo. I was discussing this yesterday and I was maintaining that Brodeur was an experienced goalie and would bounce back. I'm a Canucks fan and I even stated that I had more confidence in Brodeur (particularly in a shootout) than Luongo.
I feel like a fool right now and if Luongo can't step it up I don't even want to think about how I will feel.

Hindsight has nothing to do with it. Bouwmeester's omission was a really bad hockey decision, period. I believe the blame stops at Kevin Lowe's door, just out of sheer spite imo.
Pronger, or Seabrook who isn't being utilized, over arguably one of the best skating two way defenseman in the game. It's just plain ridiculous any way you look at it. Contrary to popular belief Bouwmeester was not having a bad season at all so there's simply no excuse for his omission.
