Tournament poker is completely ridiculous.
Here's some examples:
The hype: 80 million dollar prize pool!!!!!1 Actual situation: Well when you put in $10,000 into a 8,000 man tournament, you get a huge payout when you win. Tournament poker is expensive and extraodinarily difficult way to make money. No quick buck here.
The hype: Pros are the best players in the world! Actual situation: Most live pros are degenerates in debt. Only a few players deserve the hype. Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu to name a few of a very select group.
The hype: Main Event winner is the best player in the world! Actual situation: Main event winner doesn't even have to be a winning poker player in the long term. Just have a basic grasp of the guidelines and be aggresive.
