Maybe you should examine why you think that is a bad thing. Doesn't sound like a very rational point of view.

But yes, it is dying down unfortunately. Not as many people logging on to Pokerstars that think they are good because they know to raise with AK.

People who think poker is a simple game = easy money.
I dont think they mean poker the game as being a fad, just the over the topness of the TV coverage. I mean do I really need to see some 90's TV star ###### play poker at some celeb poker table with 1/2 celeb half poker pros.

I love the play poker but even I think the whole gold bracelet thing is a bit ######y.

Tournament poker is completely ridiculous.

Here's some examples:

The hype: 80 million dollar prize pool!!!!!1 Actual situation: Well when you put in $10,000 into a 8,000 man tournament, you get a huge payout when you win. Tournament poker is expensive and extraodinarily difficult way to make money. No quick buck here.

The hype: Pros are the best players in the world! Actual situation: Most live pros are degenerates in debt. Only a few players deserve the hype. Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu to name a few of a very select group.

The hype: Main Event winner is the best player in the world! Actual situation: Main event winner doesn't even have to be a winning poker player in the long term. Just have a basic grasp of the guidelines and be aggresive.

Guys using body sprays? How can that be anything but an awful trend?

Maybe I need to embrace my metrosexual side.

It may be deeply complex, but it's still just a card game. There's nothing noble or special about it. Chess is deeply complex but if I sat there for hours on end discussing the intricacies of it in a social setting with a bunch of people who might not be quite as enthusiastic about it as I am, I'm going to get cuffed in the head. If gambling on chess becomes my main form of entertainment I think I've got a problem.

From my perspective, you don't have to like it and I don't personally go for it but I don't hate it because it feminizes men. I don't like it because most people who use it have no idea where the "too much spray" line is.

Metrosexual nothing.
I always have a can of this stuff in my rugby/hockey bags in case I can't get a shower after a game.
Fad, maybe.
Handy? You bet!
Metrosexual? I suppose if not wanting to smell like hockey equipment is metrosexual, then yes.
