Don’t forget Libya, Obama’s failure.

Hopefully the US learned from that one and helps provide some stability to Venezuela during its transition.

Who knows what exactly will happen next, we all want the country to get a fresh start. Point is you guys don't know what's going to happen next, no one does, but if this isn't a time for optimism.. when's the right time? Their country was just freed from a 26 year dictatorship, from a situation where millions fled the country just to escape his tyranny. Regular political prisoners, murders, kidnappings.. wild that it's even a discussion about whether this is worth celebrating for the people who've had to live in that for so long.

Anyway, agree to disagree going forward, I'm happy for the people and I hope after a few months things are stabilized and heading in a much better direction going forward. I'm choosing to be optimistic, one less dictator is a good thing IMO.
Are you guzzling drug boat cocaine? Nothing has changed other than the leader. The regime and people in power are all the same as before. hat is it you are reading that gives you the idea that the country has been freed of anything? And if she does turncoat and cooperate with the US, she'll probably be killed. These are lifelong deep socialists with family ties throguh governemnt, they aren't just going to turn the country over just because Demented Don decided he'd play with his toys for a day.

Maybe read some news.

It's too early to say if Rodríguez will pursues a rapprochement with the Trump administration or follow the same adversarial line as her predecessor.
On Saturday, she demanded that the U.S. return Maduro and called the U.S. government "extremists."

"What is being done to Venezuela is an atrocity that violates international law," Rodríguez said, surrounded by high-ranking civilian officials and military leaders.

On Sunday, she struck a more conciliatory tone in a social media post.

"We invite the US government to collaborate with us on an agenda of cooperation oriented towards shared development within the framework of international law to strengthen lasting community coexistence," she wrote.

This entire post is demonstrative of why you're in a cult. Wonder if you could pack any more far right dog whistles into it?

Your leader would be proud and you will ascend to the 7th ring of Don, allowing you to buy his crypto and giving you first access to his branded cellphone.

Using Sleepy Joe, coined by a guy that consistently falls asleep "rests his eyes", wink, wink, in public?

Donald Trump says Hi!!

Biden actually looks and sounds great these days, and Trump looks and sounds terrible.

I don't think Trump is making any decisions these days.

Biden is aging and has a speech impediment which MAGA exploited. They also pushed out of context or edited video of Biden over social media and fake news sources like Fox. Which they’ve also done with Kamala Harris and Nancy Pelosi.

Trump. Who came up with the childish nickname “sleepy joe” has been rambling incoherently and slurring his speech since his first term. In fact, there are several instances where Trump walked out in the middle of pressers or functions looking lost like a deer in the headlights. Now it’s a lot worse. He looks like a walking cadaver and he’s falling dead asleep during events. It’s always projection with MAGA.

It's too bad, because a thoughtful military assist to the existing civilian opposition could probably do a lot of good in Venezuela. EG - in Panama the US removed Noriega, and then sent billions in aid to rebuild the country, and turned over the canal (which gave them an economic base to rebuild from).

In Venezuela they could remove the current regime and hand over power immediately to the recent Nobel Peace Prize winner, help rebuild the oil industry and let the profits be used for reconstruction. If citizens saw immediate and tangible benefits that would significantly reduce opposition, and the country could rebuild into a functioning democracy.

Panama is probably the most recent example of this working, and the Marshall plan in Germany/Japan would be another example. The oil gives the country a unique option - as the capital spending to restore it could generate massive amounts of jobs, and the profits from selling it could provide a social safety net for everyone else.

Unfortunately, I don't think that's what's likely here...

I did a little bit of work with an engineer from Venezuela a few years back that used to work there and I recall him telling me about the issues kick starting their O&G industry if it were to happen. From what I recall there has been a significant rust out of assets since they nationalized the industry, and a major brain drain. So Trumps statement of "up and running in 18 months" is absurd when you take into account the amount of time and money needed to bring it back to life (likely 10 years and billions of dollars).

So with oil hovering around $60 and factoring the heavy crude discount, along with the still uncertain political environment (keeping in mind their industry is still nationalized), it's no wonder large producers aren't lining up to take it on. It's a MASSIVE undertaking.

It's a pretty good Epstein distraction though.

FYI, there is very little, to no, 'far left' in North America. This is a low-effort talking point from right-wing media and you're completely falling for it. Most people are centrist. The right, on the other hand, has fallen to their extreme side with such velocity in the last decade, that I suppose people like you call anything sane and sensible towards the centre 'far left' in comparison.

There was a guy from JP Morgan posting about the huge doubt that is appearing in regards to the oil reserve number (300 bn brrls) which magically appeared because of Hugo Chavez. Was 75 bn then jumped to 300 somehow near his end. Apparently its just a self reported number.
I dont enough about it myself in regards to proved, probable and possible and what the breakdown is for Venezuela.

Not saying I support (or don’t support) the actions of the US. Just found it to be an interesting commentary is all.

Corrupt kleptocracies aren't great for the general population? Shocking. Someone should inform US citizens of this breaking news.
