Seems like a loss for the Mets at this point. I guess they're hoping for a bounce back from Semien. I also bet they made the move now because they were under the impression the Yanks would be getting him. In any case Nimmo is a pretty good fielder.

Feels like the Mets freeing up some $ and an outfield spot to take a run at Tucker, or maybe Bellinger.
Also explains why the Rangers non-tendered Adolis Garcia.

I hope they are going for both of them. Before our season I was always under the impression the Jays outfield really needed some help, offence wise. I'm more at comfort with it now considering the outcome of this year and how guys turned it around. I wish Santander didn't happen in hindsight but he's set at LF for the time being. Tucker would help in RF but I'd much rather Bo at 2nd vs getting Tucker in OF. We really need Bo's bat.

I'd love a nice huge bidding war for both guys where they end up in the NL.
I agree Santander, Varsho, Barger + Springer at DH with Lukes/Schneider as 4th/5th guys up is a good outfield.
The only hesitation is that Varsho hits FA next year, might need a replacement there.
Also potentially a replacement for Santander in the OF next year - if Springer doesn't come back I'd imagine Santander spends most of his time at DH.

Hopefully not just posturing to get a better deal from them.
Would be refreshing to have one of these guys finally pick someone other than the Dodgers, as long as it isn't the Yankees or Red Sox either.

Couple younger minor league infielder signed. In case ewe see some regression need some hungry players. Depth never bad.

Carlos Mendoza sounds like the prototypical Blue Jay. Good OBP and defensively versatile. Solid depth pickup for the system.

"News" on TSN that Jays have checked on Marte. Could probably get him for relatively cheap given his contract. He's the kind of guy I'd want. Kills it on average, and given 2nd basemen are hard to get, would be a strategic advantage if it doesn't work out with Bo. I like!

Yeah landing Marte would be excellent. Could still chase Tucker too. That line up would feast.

Sonny Gray traded to the Red Sox. Pretty unremarkable except for there's a player going the other way named Dick Fitts. That's an all time name right there.

Wow. Got their K king. Can’t complain about this one. A lot of money per season. Wonder what Bo will go for?

Fantastic.
It's been a great start to the off-season.
So the rotation now looks like
Cease
Gausman
Bieber
Yesavage
And then a lot of choices for #5.
Pretty pretty good.

I am really, really enjoying the Jays operating like a big market team after a lot of lean years.
Excellent start to the offseason!

Just the way the game is going.
In my head I still think its absurd to pay these guys that kind of dough when they only play once every 5. But thats my old school mentality and if the team you cheer for doesn't pay up, someone else will.
Plus Cease has an epic moustache, so its all good.

Of the top 10 players in WAR last season, three were pitchers (not including Ohtani) which shows that despite playing every fifth day, they can still be pretty impactful.
