Disappointed to lose Solovyov but he's also much closer to being what he is at 25, only a year younger than Pachal.

Brzustewicz is 20, Grushnikov is 22, Kuznetsov is 23.

Still would have preferred waiving Miromanov first and tried sneaking Solo down on the last day.

Solo would have zero trade value and Flames have enough D prospects that I’m not to worried about a bottom pair tweener. I’m not surprised Kerins cleared.

He was the one player I didn't want to waive as I have faith he is a bottom pairing dman with a bit of potential to be a #4 if everything goes right.

We do still have a guy like Grushnikov around who I think is very similar and a bit younger so it softens the blow but it still is mind boggling that we didn't waive Miromanov over this kid.

I do still fully expect Miro to be waived however so maybe it wouldnt have mattered if they keep Gridin up for a while.

Eh it's fine no big deal. If he sticks in Colorado good for him if he gets waived again grab him back.

Solovyov needs to play 65 NHL games this season or he becomes a group 6 UFA.

Flames need to waive more players still, its not like they could have just waived Miro and been done with it.

Not really the point, it was unnecessary and a poor decision.

At the end of the day, we have lots of d prospects so it is not a huge deal. But I don't understand why they don't just waive Bean or Miromanov instead.

We know what those 2 players are.

I'm not happy about losing Solo either, but terrible asset management? really?!
  • Former waiver pickups Hanley and Pachal were just as good as Solo in camp,
  • Making Solo the 7th/8th best D-men at best.
  • Solo was a 7th round pick.
  • Solo is already 25, and one year younger than Pachal.
  • What is the best return Solo could've gotten you back in a trade? A 6th rounder?

More over this frees up a spot on the Wranglers giving younger guys like Morin, Brzustewicz, and Kuznetsov more playing time in the AHL, and likely the first call-up.

There are similar players on waivers daily for anyone worried about assets

Solovyov is 25 years old and hasn't been able to stick on the team at any point, it's not like he is a young prospect. Guys like him are available on waivers all the time. I don't understand why this is a big deal. Viktor Soderstrom is on waivers today and is probably better than Solovyov.

Damn, I liked Solo, thought he had a good combination of skills.
Ultimately, his comparable is Jyrki Jokipakka.

I think people are more upset that they kept 2 older players up, who are at best about the same skill level in Bean and Miromanov. Those 2 players should have been waived instead.
