Yeah, we can put the '50 pt guy' comments to bed at this point. It isn't just a hot December, we now have a full calendar year where he has maintained this pace.

224G, 41A 65P in 82 games in 2024.

That ties him for 62nd among forwards, with Tage Thompson, Timo Meier, Seth Jarvis and Brad Marchand. Ahead of such notables as Zach Hyman, Kevin Fiala, Ryan O'Reilly, Connor Bedard (61 pts in 70 games), Sam Bennett and Mika Zibanejad

I wear mine less ironically now. He’s an important part of this team and I respect his ability to adapt his game.

Since the Kadri line was put together Huiberdeau's roughly at the pace he was in the three years before his 115 point season.

Good on him for turning his game around. It wasn't looking like it was ever going to happen in Calgary. Full credit to him.

Funny to read that he’s a playoff player now lol. Same people said he should ask the team to terminate his contract. Worst player ever. Ruined the Flames.

Remember him getting crapped on for saying it was hard watching his teammates raise the cup in Florida. Somehow that reason to terminate his contract.

He's on pace for a career high in goals and close to career low in assists which kind of illustrates where the Flames are vs the Panthers team he played on. In Florida he had plenty of shooters to distribute to and in Calgary he's finally realized he's going to have to do more of the scoring himself. If you can get 30+ goals out of him it certainly lessens the sting of the contract. Hopefully he's got five years of play like this left in him.

I've always liked Huberdeau. He seems like a really good guy who's attitude is top notch and was in the conversation for captain.

I was down on him for the obvious reasons, but also that he essentially replaced perhaps the most electrifying player of this generation of the Flames. Which wasn't his fault. Not to mention he is kind of the face of the forced rebuild.

To thrive on the other side of the continent in a different style of play in a different conference and then be ripped from that comfort zone and beasked to carry the load of a huge contract is no small potatoes.

If this truly is a reinvented, better all around player. A Huberdeau phoenix rising from ashes so to speak. That is super duper awesome and a great story. That makes him one heck of a valuable player going forward in the "Dallas Model"

The SVP Huberdeau jersey I bought has better stitching and the yellow twill under the numbers and lettering better matches the shade on the main crest than the Backlund Jersey I bought at the dome.

So, how are folks feeling about Huberdeau. The points aren't there but he may reach his career-high in goals and hit the 30 mark.

115 point Jonathan Huberdeau in Florida with very little defensive awareness.

Or

60 point (30 goal) Huberdeau who is much better defensively and is leading his team in points.

...

I still think the contract is overpaid and I would rather take 115 points but is the gap starting to close?

What if next year, Huberdeau can get 80 points (30 goals)?

The Huberdeau redemption arc has been fulfilling to see. He always seemed like a great guy and easy to root for. Was hard to see the life sucked out of him after his play didn’t come close to matching the contract. But he always stayed positive and never deflected anything away.

His contract is still high but he’s become a valuable core member of this team. Probably top 5 in most valuable players this year to the team (Wolf, Kadri, Bahl, Huberdeau, Weegar).

His contract won’t look as bad in a couple of years when it’s a shorter term left and a lower relative value to the cap. If he keeps playing like this, he’ll keep playing in to the AAV more and more.

Not a boat anchor anymore and it’s been really fun to watch the transformation.

The contract is still a boat anchor. But it's possible that he might salvage half the deal as a reasonably productive player. It's good to see Huberdeau shooting more this year. Over the past two years I did think him getting back to scoring 30 goals would help this team more than anything because this team really does not have many guys who can do that. So he's definitely contributed more to the team this season.
