I feel like if one of the best golfers in the world was bitching about Tiger not giving course tips it would be at the very least be a top-ish google search result, if not a major story.

Wait, this is the reason you don’t like Rahm??

if this is criteria for not liking someone there must not be many humans you’re fond of then.

Wait, so Tiger keeps his advice close to the chest and has a family like relationship with Justin Thomas, then Justin Thomas says that he keeps what he gets from Tiger to himself and out of that Rahm is who you dislike?

I mean not that anyone should be disliked from that story but...Rahm?

He literally made a 90's style homophobic comment telling me to eat a **** over an innocuous discussion about LIV a couple of months ago, so it's not surprising.

The majors may really benefit from the PGA/LIV split. Being able to see the two groups come together was great. Pairings like Spieth/Mickelson gave it this big crossover feel.

If LIV doe not not disintegrate entirely, the major tournaments are going to be motivated to find ways for LIV golfers to qualify IMO.

It's hard to envision how LIV players even stay relevant though. The biggest names will be in the majors for a little while I think. If they picked the top 10 on the current liv standings, I don't see any names that would move the needle in viewership (other than Koepka who is qualified anyway).

https://www.livgolf.com/standings-2023

Out of the big names, I get the impression that only Koepka and Reed are really putting work in to still be competive. Phil can conjure up some magic at places like Augusta apparently, but his days are likely numbered as he gets into his 50s.

Bryson, DJ and Cam Smith are still in majors for a while and have recently been very good, but it seems that tournament golf is not the highest priority for any of them any more.

Outside of those guys, who else really is compelling to see in the majors? I don't see liv generating new up and coming stars.

Well that is their issue for sure, where is the next batch of talent.

But I suppose it would be cheaper to buy young, lesser known talent if that is what they choose to do. The issue then is how those guys qualify for the majors and you can see why LIV so badly needs a path for qualification. And why the Tour doesn’t want them to have it.

For LIV to be relevant, it needs staying power. Otherwise it’s just a temporary blip where we’ll only see certain players four times a year.

But a US open featuring Rory vs. Bryson down the stretch would be interesting as hell. Or say Scheffler vs. Reed.

LIV will be out of business by the time all of the big name contracts expire in 2025.

Then the good young guys will tuck tail and return to the pga tour.

I wonder if Rory is going to be in any sort of trouble with the PGA since he announced that he is withdrawing from the RBC Heritage tournament this weekend. It is an elevated/designated tournament this year and players eligible for these tournaments are allowed to skip one event. Rory already skipped out on the Hawaii tournament earlier so this will be his second.

I guess he can always claim some sort of injury is holding him back from playing this weekend and I don't know what would be required to backup an injury claim but it could be interesting to see how this plays out.

I was surprised to see him drop out too. He does take these losses pretty hard. I think the rule is it costs him some PIP money, but things have changed so often, I don't know if anyone knows the full rulese for sure.

I think that only Monahan and Rory know the rules as they are the ones that wrote in all the changes.

It is getting some attention, so we'll see what reasons are given.
