My money is on Gerrard. They've been horrible and they do have some decent players.

Has to be more going on behind the scenes here. Maybe he's not the greatest manager in history, but they've lost to Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City. Not like they are badly underachieving or anything, especially when you look at that squad.

He was critical of the ownership because they basically aren't making an attempt to stay up and are just going to collect their money and head back to the Championship. Someone should pick him up though, as he brought them up and he's a decent manager.

He's been taking subtle shots at ownership in his post game interviews about the investment

Yeah, I don't like seeing that from a manager.
If you're unhappy with their investment, quit and then say you felt the direction wasn't what you were looking for.
Don't create beef with your bosses in the media.

It's tough though; he needs to have a better squad for a chance to stay up, which does impact his career. At the same time, they just don't want to spend, presumably because last time they were up and spent, they ended up relegated. There's a good argument for both sides.
I think he faced the same issue with Fulham though. He wanted the Khans to spend and they were just unwilling.

I mean, he's also seen how another promoted side have signed 19 (!!!) players this summer. Now you obviously don't have to splash the cash like Nottingham have done, but surely it's got to sting a bit to watch that while your owners are prepared to sit tight.

I have to agree with Winsor though, the right move was probably to either shut up and get on with it or quit.
Its not like 'Whiny Mourinho' scenario where he just bitched and bitched that his owners didnt spend when they were spending like drunken sailors on shore leave but they were just spending badly.
Parker was looking around at his immediate competition to avoid relegation and probably not evaluating his chances all that optimistically.

I guess, but these clubs are going to make a pile more money in the PL this year as opposed to the Championship. To expect them to bolster the squad with some of that new found wealth isn't really expecting that much? It's not only the cash in the PL for this season, but they also get three years of parachute payments if they get relegated.

Quitting = no money
Fired = payout
As much as we'd like to believe in being altruistic, man saw the score and got himself paid. Can't blame him to be honest.

I wonder how long Tuchel's leash is going to be. He had a reputation in Germany of being very difficult to work with, and I think he frequently clashed with the Dortmund hierarchy back then. Now with a rocky start, new ownership and him moaning publicly about the squad, I wouldn't be surprised if his job wasn't as safe as some people might think.

Its not even so much the rocky start, Chelsea were stumbling hard at the end of last season too, so its like a continuation of that form.
I'd imagine he's got a fair bit leeway though.

I don’t have an issue with his position, I get why he's frustrated.
I just don't like the public callout to embrass his bosses & save face for the results.
Anyway; moving on to more important things like Chelsea losing again!

Unless it goes totally off the rails I would imagine Tuchel gets until the World Cup break. Though if Roman was still running things he might be gone tonight.

Ya I agree, new owner wont want the stigma if being quick to fire
I think world cup break is even too early unless they are I dono 10 points back of top 4?
Arsenal looking quite good has definitely raised pressure on chelsea though

Well they always raise their game against us, so it's not really surprising. Speaking of which...tomorrow is the West Ham cup final, so hopefully we turn up.
