Goals like that should be reviewed.
It was clear from most angles except the one the ref managed to get into, that the puck was never frozen or stopped moving.
I realize the whistle means that players may stop playing but practically and clearly that wasn't the case here, it was 1 second too early and the puck had almost crossed the line when the whistle went, so no one stopped because they heard the whistle.

But he full on takes the space, it’s not like they were trying to give him room.
All I’ve got for chirps to my Oiler friends at this point is that he’s no Great one, which is hardly a burn...

Agree! Did he even get hit once tonight? Did anyone hit McDavid once like they hit him in game 1? I don't understand why they stop hitting those two. Did the league warn them about hitting the wonder twins?

Looks like the team heading out on the road be a good thing pressure falls on Edmonton now. I can see flames wining the next 2 if Marky gets sharper. Losing to the Oilers like kick in balls

There really was no killer instinct from a lot of the team tonight.

Watching the highlights Cuthbert much more interested and excited in calling the Oilers goals than Flames ones. And Simpson didn't make highlights much but "all important tying goal", which was more descriptive then anything he said about the Flames.

Can't believe we are blowing leads like this to the Oilers.
My fear is the Flames don't know how to play with a lead vs the Oil.
Shutting it down doesn't work, so they need to keep pressing and attacking.
I honestly think trying to not have another 9-6 game cost them tonight. Try to shut it down at 3-1 and you just stop your game, inviting Edmonton to start attacking.
Eventually McDavid or the refs will get you; it's better to just stay on the offensive and play the game in their zone.

Lack of killer instinct continues to haunt this franchise. Would have thought Darryl would have solved that by now.

Watch ESPN or Steve Dangle on Youtube if you don't like Sportsnet. They are all doing this series live.

Meh, oilers won who cares other than those sweat pants with good shoes loving smith fans what do they have? Trust the process and they’ll win, things go sideways when they let mcjesus fly which, in all honesty will happen at times, he’s a great player. 5 on 5 flames are better. Don’t let special teams dictate the series and we’re good. Been on the wrong side of these BOA in the 80’s and early 90’s but with the exception of 91 we probably have to admit, if we’re being honest, that the coilers were probably the better team and we were trying to find ways to beat them. Today however I think it’s obvious that Calgary is the better team we just need to find a way to survive mcdinglenuts outbursts.

I agree, this is still a big problem with these guys. They should have kept their foot on the gas when they had the 2-0 lead. Instead they got themselves into penalty trouble, which completely changed the momentum. All the PK time and 4 on 4 play messed up their mojo and they stopped skating.
The Oilers are perfectly content with it being a special teams and 4 on 4 battle, as that's their bread and butter. The Flames need to be much better at staying disciplined and skating away from the extra-curricular crap. Gotta try and keep it 5 on 5 as much as possible for game 3.

It seems like the flames usually win games from Sunday to Thursday and then lose games on a Friday and Saturday. Has anyone else noticed this trend?

Without question the worst-officiated game I've ever seen live. Everything is called, and then anything goes, and then everything's a penalty all over again. Nobody on the ice has a clue where the line is all night. Hopefully they send a few refs who know it's the playoffs next game.
Zadorov had one of the worst games I've seen a defenseman play. Just nothing going on upstairs in a lot of situations. Lots of openings caused by his being behind the play mentally.
I think against McDavid, this "checking" defensive style where we're always attacking the puck just doesn't work. He's beating guys 1 on 1 because they're being too aggressive. Sometimes you just have to respect the threat and focus on taking away the pass. He's not a good enough shooter to take over a game on the back of it - it's his playmaking. If there isn't an open pass he'll skate himself to death waiting for it. Easier said than done, but I'm sick of watching guys lunge at the puck and get beat.

Whatever you think about the refs tonight, the Flames put themselves in a position to take too many penalties and that gives the Oilers fuel for their stars.
Sutter likes to flip pressure though.
