Hmm.

I think I'm just going to have to stop participating in these threads.

I mean, I'm not blown away when I watch this show (or Boba Fett either I guess) but I'm entertained and still enjoy them.

Then I come in here and it's just endless pissing and moaning lol

I see a lot of the dumb stuff too (like the trenchcoat escape), but whatever.

It's difficult to wade into threads about shows/franchises that have really passionate fan bases. It's also why I didn't want to gripe too much about the show as I've been in your situation before, too. However, sometimes I like to venture in to see if I'm truly the only one that finds a show bad.

The overwhelming praise for the series after the first 3 episodes made me feel like maybe I missed or wasn't getting something. After I watched the 4th it just reinforced that the poor aspects of the show are outweighing the positives. It feels like they are really wasting an opportunity to showcase one of the best characters in the franchise, played by an actor that has absolutely nailed the role to the wall.

I just can't unsee things like zombie Raiden delivering his lines like a 1990s cartoon character. In general the villains are really hindering the series, and the acting has been mediocre to poor. I'm surprised to see people praise the Leah character when I find her one of the weakest parts of the show. I feel bad criticizing a child actor but woof. The 'interrogation' scene was a masterclass of poor acting.

Don't mean to drag people down, but I was quite looking forward to this series because of the Obi Wan character and I'm disappointed. Thankfully, there appears to be plenty of posters that are enjoying it and finding redeeming value. Actually, it's some of those posts that help keep me watching. It also appears to be reviewed quite well, and it's great to see the larger SW community rally around Moses Ingram.

I want to like this show.

I haven't got through my backlog enough to get to this series but one of my boys is bothering me to watch it with him. Is it closer to Mandalorian (great) in quality than Boba Fett (terrible)?

I liked Tala improvising her way through the infiltration, but clearly coordinating it with another guy right next to you is silly. Also beating up an officer behind some equipment while the same technician is still sitting there. Lots of little duh moments in this one.
Thanked for 3.6 Roentgen.

That episode was not 3.6 Roentgen, it was 15,000.

Yeah I'd say its closer to the Mandalorian. Boba Fett, while shot beautifully, was just strange as Disney tried to make Boba the ultimate hornorable good guy, and it fell flat because of it.

Even in the EU Boba was portrayed as pretty hornorable but still a fairly brutal man.

With Kenobi, I get the contraversy. The last episode wasn't great. But it had some good moments in it, and it looked Star Wars. And Vader/Anakin striding through the door in a rage gave me chills.

but yeah, the trench coat thing was a weird choice.

And I like the job that girl is doing as Leia.

Paddington Kenobi in "disguise" was laughably bad, especially with a child-sized lump sticking out at waist height....

What WAS that? Lol. At everybody I watched with got a good laugh out of it.

Rough episode. Sequel quality in terms of it not being self-aware of how silly it was.

Please improve drastically in the final two.

Btw, in a short 6 part series, we don't care about side characters we've never seen before let alone dialogue about their struggles when we have developed about as much a connection to them as Obi-Wan has (none). Please stop wasting screentime on them Disney and just give people the goods that they came for (Ewan, Hayden, Leia and the Inquisitors).

And I guess Talla, I actually really don't mind her, surprisingly.

The two minutes of infuriated Vader were the best part.

I expect that the major duel will happen in this next episode, and be continued in the last one. With the last half focusing on how Ben convinces Anakin that he's dead so he can go onto other tasks. Vader will deal with Reva, mainly because she doesn't show up with the other Inquisitors in Rebels and she plainly fails as she's not the Grand Inquisitor.

Ben then has to get Leia back to Alderaan, and return to Tattooine and maybe finally hear fron Quigon.

I also expect Vader to have a talk with Sidious, that moves him onto his next stage in his evolution from angry hate filled Anakin so Darth Vader.

Qui Gon or an emperor scene better happen in episode 5.

The whole thing they've got going on right now is getting a bit stale. Need something to spice it up.

I would take an entire Obi-Wan dagobah-type training episode with his master. It would be much more interesting than any of this.

People wanted to see progression in a conflict that builds off of the backstory of the prequels. This last one while fun in parts had Casino Planet side story vibes. It's hard to make us care or manufacture tension like that other poster said.

I dont think you're going to get it.

Realistically, we see that his connection with the Force is weak, he cant take on Vader and we're going to get a scene probably where he tries and fails and flees to become Hermit Obi-Wan.

If he converses with Qui-Gon it should probably go along the lines of:

"Dude. You're boned. Go home."

Definitely closer to Mandalorian. As mentioned, there are certainly some silly moments in this series and some of the acting is sub-par at times. But that's nothing new with this franchise. There have been silly things and bad acting in every SW movie for decades now, so I find it funny that fans make such a big stink about that stuff.

Personally I'm enjoying this series despite its flaws, and I love that it looks and feels like OG Star Wars. Ewan McGregor alone is worth the watch, as well as any scene involving Vader. And I have no issue whatsoever with little Leia's acting. As child actors go, I think she's pretty solid. She even looks like a mini Carrie Fisher.

I though it was mostly fine, the trenchcoat part was very silly however and reminded me of this:

I'm not sure what people were expecting from this. It's pretty much exactly what I expected. Obi Wan getting one last adventure before he goes full hermit mode for another decade. We're getting some great Vader/Obi Wan moments, and overall Vader is very true to character.

It's also such a great relief to have the toned down force powers. The force powers are supposed to be about instincts and connection to the force. Not about blowing entire ships out of the sky.

My only major problem with the series is that the inquisitors don't really seem that menacing. And now they've made it clear that they could in no way ever threaten Vader, they seem even less menacing. Where are they going with the inquisitor story line? Reva will get too big for his britches and then Vader will easily dispatch her? Who knows, maybe they'll surprise me. Otherwise, the rest is solid.

Liked the episode, even though the trenchcoat scene was pretty dumb. In their position, I would have definitely gotten some storm trooper outfits on and maybe hollowed out an astromech droid and stuffed Leia in that or something.

I think Leia is doing great even without having to grade on the child actor bell curve. If you need a reminder how bad it could get, good old Phantom Menace has you covered

I suspect the Qui-Gon and Palpatine scenes (if they happen) will be in the final episode. In fact, with Qui-Gon, I wouldn't be surprised if it's the final scene in the entire series/season (possibly post-credits, but that's more an MCU thing than Star Wars).

I'm still holding out hope they somehow convinced Natalie to secretly film a dream sequence with Leia. She could have done it while shooting Thor, with Waititi directing on a virtual set/green screen. Even better if they did it without disguising the physical transformation she went through for Thor. We'd have to head-canon that Padme has spent the last decade in the afterlife getting absolutely shredded.

The underwater inquisitor base was really cool. It was dark and fantastic in that classic George Lucasian scale. Mandalorian fell short in that department.

I expect Qui-Gon to make a 2 minute appearance right before the final confrontation. So far it seems like this whole series is really centered on the characters feeling of blame, and I think his role will be focused on that.

Leia was pointed out as not a real Organa, and she is trying to find her place in the world and was blaming herself for getting captured by running away to the forest.

Reva seems to be a youngling turned to the Dark Side, who it seems was ripped from everything she loved and sent to learn with the Jedi. I think her talking about Lola was real. Probably brought in by Obi-wan so she would blame him for everything that's happened to her.

Vader is blaming Obi-wan for making him what he is.

Owen blames Obi-wan for Anakin's death.

And Obi-wan holds all of that self blame and doubt that comes with what happened. I would expect its not just Anakin, but he was also the one who discovered the clones.

Qui-Gon will most likely play the role of mentor to ease Obi-wan's doubts and fears. Anakin was HIS responsibility, it never should have fell on Obi-wan to teach the child, and I think Force Qui-gon will be that spark to ease ole Ben's soul and rekindle his connection to the force just in time for a final face-off.

Did the physics of the snowspeeders bother anybody else? (Also #### yeah snowspeeders!)

I get that its science fiction but the stopping on a dime in mid air to engage Reva and landing inside of a larger ship with virtually zero space to come to a stop felt comical. I suppose if you watch Empire right after the movement of those ships was practically the same though.
