#### Adam Fox.
He would have looked good in red though.

What a great sight to see! Only team expected to be leading by a full goal, balanced evenly between offence and defence.

Forsling, Gostisbehere, and Kylington were all on waivers in the last calendar year.
Thay's NHL GMs for ya.

Wasn't sure whether this belonged in the OK thread or here, but since Mangiapane is on the list too thought it would fit better here. Funny that Kylington is having a better statistical season than our old friend Fox.

Yeah, tell me all the armchair GMs here were high on Gostisbehere, or Forsling for that matter.

I would've been all over the Flames getting Gostisbehere in the summer, especially instead of Zadorov.

At the time I mentioned the Flames should have been in on trading for Gostisbehere with a 2nd round pick attached to him.
We needed a PP QB and he would have fit the bill.

It's true some have mentioned him, but every time I've ever seen Gost mentioned in a trade proposal, the majority of responses have been somewhere between horrified and sneering dismissal.

Not sure about anyone elze but to be honest I doubt I even noticed either was on waivers, since I'm just a fan. I do remember wierd turmoil around the ghostisbehere situation but it took me a minute to even realize he wasn't a Flyer this year.
The difference, is that unlike NHL GMs, armchair GMs are not paid to watch hockey all day every day. When a player with a valuable skillset is available for free, I guess I expect them to go back and watch every shift that player plays (and different levels) and make a judgement call.
Surely you hold professionals to a higher standard too, no? Especially when it's their own player and no one is forcing them to waiver him.

Sure, but the claim was CPers are as good a judges, or close to it. The fact they all made it through waivers indicates the gamble was good.
For me, I don't view making it through waivers as an indication of value anyway. Lots of teams aren't in a position to simply add a guy from waivers without waiving one of their own or having cap issues (Gost is a pretty hefty contract).
ETA: the fact Kylington made it through waivers preseason (when everyone is busy evaluating their own guys) and at the time had only one practice in due to immigration issues makes his clearance even less relevant.

Cap issues are not independant of being an NHL GM. A lot of teams' cap problems come from their own past decisions. See, for instance, 5.65M spent on our third defense pair this season.
The ability to see cap space as an asset is a huge shortcoming of virtually every GM without an internal budget. But I digress.

True, but in the moment they exist, and provide a partial answer as to why a player isn't grabbed from waivers.
No one is picking up $4.5 Gost from waivers back then. You have to trade for him to make it work.
And back then Kylington was just another guy who a lot of teams have in their system.

GOAT!

Defencemen 5v5 goals and points per 60, min 10 games played:
Edit: So now we not only have the Mangiapane of forwards... we also have the Mangiapane of defencemen.

Biggest number on that for Kylington is actually the 9.1% on ice shooting percentage.
He's not rocking a 20% on ice percentage that's unsustainable.
If anything it's actually a bit low compared to others in the top 10.
