I believe that game was my very first Stampeders game live! I seem to remember a Dave Sapunjis touchdown with him streaking down the west sidelines after a long bomb. I also got a "Big Daddy" Marvin Pope glossy card!

The Edmonton Elks have returned to the field and their Thursday injury report reveals some of the players who contracted COVID-19 during the team’s outbreak last week.

According to the report, six players did not practice Thursday due to being in protocol. That list includes Canadian receiver Tevaun Smith, defensive back Aaron Grymes, receiver Armanti Edwards, defensive back Albert Smalls, and linebackers Keishawn Beirria and Brandon Pittman.

Also limited in practice as they return from COVID protocol were receivers Derel Walker and Shai Ross, defensive back Jonathan Rose, and defensive linemen Christian Rector, Reggie Howard and Kwaku Boateng.

The postponed game is now scheduled for Nov 16th.

The Elks now play on Nov 13, Nov 16, and Nov 19th.

Thats hilarious and quite the punishment but it likely won't matter as they'll be eliminated from the playoffs by then.

Are you kidding me? That is completely and utterly asinine.

Way to go CFL, even Bishop Sycamore wouldn't play three games in seven days.

Hurts the Argos as well as they play on November 12 and then have to play again on the 16th. Pathetic.

Yeah, that's really bad, if I'm Toronto, I grieve this as it should be a 1-0 win for the Argos for the game that was postponed.

Good article by Richard Sherman on playing on short rest: https://www.theplayerstribune.com/ar...night-football

I mean, there's a reason why they changed the CGY/EDM game following Labour Day from Friday night to Saturday night...

Not sure if this is of any interest but saw Peewee Smith mentioned a couple of pages ago. For those that don't know Peewee Smith now works for a temp agency in Calgary. I used to hire 6-7 guys a day at my company.

Someone let me know one day that Peewee Smith is the guy that drives them to their sites. We ended up meeting and he was so cool and down to earth. You'd have never known he was a star CFL player if you didn't know the name. Just completely happy and comfortable doing what he does. Once he found out I was a fan we'd chat often, which was a really neat experience. I had to retrain my brain from that fanboy "omg Peewee knows me and will talk to me again today" to "he's really chill and will be as into what's going on in my life as I am of his".

Just a totally humble, happy human being. A lot of former celebrities/athletes struggle with having to go to regular life and working after fame and end up bitter angry and in a bad way. While some of them just get life, and he gets life.

Running down a field in front of 35000k fans or driving a 2005 minivan full of temps to warehouses he's the same guy with the same laugh and demeanour.

Edmonton should just forfeit the game.

That's really embarrassing for the CFL. Come out with such a stringent COVID protocol and then put the safety of the players at risk to make up the game.

Why did they even threaten to cancel games if they weren't going to follow thru?

I guess maybe the players chose to play instead of miss a game check and the CFL got input from the teams.

That's what should happen but I understand why they would try to shoehorn it in. The league would lose the TSN broadcast money and the Argos would lose out on the home game attendance income. This isn't a big league and losing games has a big impact on the bottom line. I'm just glad this doesn't affect the Stamps in any negative way.

^^ Maybe in the short term. But it just shows how little the CFL cares about its players (and player safety).

This is a supposed to be a professional football league, and they're expecting them to suit up with only two days rest (plus travel) not once, but twice? in a row?

There is going to be some BAAAD football and hopefully not too many injuries.

You don't have to tell me as IMO the CFL has never cared about it's players or player safety.

They don't. I can think of a couple guys of the top of my head that went on to have very long careers, long after ending multiple other careers with dirty plays.

I'm still trying to figure out why they released Arbuckle to sign Nichols. I just don't understand releasing a younger up and coming QB for a journeyman QB on the decline. Nichols has been horrible and looks like a QB that should ponder retirement.
