I don't believe in Montreal. They are surprising the heck out of me. I thought Vegas was going to rout them.
Tampa is going to sweep them. I hate Tampa, and I hate the Habs. I hate the Habs more since they are a Canadian team, and I remember '86 and '89.
Not another excuse for this franchise to 'make it to the playoffs and anything can happen' - I want Tampa to show our GM how horrific it is to match up against a very good team.
Also, I like Price - world class player. Is there anyone else on the Habs that I really love watching? Nope. I love Kucherov. I love Point. I love Hedman (and I agree he shouldn't have won the Norris this year, but should have won one already). I won't cheer for them, but I hope they sweep.

I'll never truly understand this... it's so common on here though. I hate Tampa. I think the only Canadian team I'd cheer against in this scenario is Oilers cause it's Edmonton. Canucks maybe but honestly I'd rather see a Stanley Cup being paraded around in most Canadian cities rather than the beach dump that is Tampa Bay...especially a f-ing repeat...

you most likely don't have enough obnoxious friends/family members that are fans of other Canadian teams. growing up I was infused with the purest of hatred for those fanbases based on personal interactions. they not only loved their Oilers/Leafs/Habs etc. but also used every possible opportunity to take a giant dump on my Flames fandom.
if that didn't happen to you, be grateful you have the capacity to be happy for another Canadian team. just be understanding when someone else says that they can't do it, you don't know what they've been through...

lol Fair enough. I'm a Flames + Habs fan myself, growing up in a french canadian family (born in Calgary), always been a fun Flames/Habs rivalry with family (even tho I still like the Habs having grown up around it), so I guess you could say I'd hate the Leafs almost as much as the Oilers lol.

I had forgotten about this.
The Sharks were up 3-0 on Colorado, but then lost two OT games in a row before finally closing them out in 6.

Well, we all love and hate for different reasons. Aside from the 'hate', another reason that I actively cheer against every other Canadian team:
No Canadian team since Montreal in 93 has won the cup. That's getting close to 30 years. Remember when the Flames made the finals in '04? They became Canada's team, and their fan base dramatically increased.
It wasn't as big for the Oilers (I don't think - maybe my extreme hatred for them didn't allow me to think of it that way). Ottawa got a lot of love and grew their fan base the year they made the finals. Vancouver shrunk their fan base as they made a mockery of the game (lol) with lots of people finding them cringe-worthy.
Point is, I do believe there is a very tangible and long-lasting 'reward' for the next Canadian team to win a cup - a stronger fan base that is very important. To a small market team like Calgary that would be huge for the organization for years to come. For Toronto? Montreal? Not as much to be gained (relatively speaking of course). For Vancouver? They have a fairly big base. Too many Oilers fans since the 80's, and they have a larger share than the Flames. Winnipeg is still living off their 'return to Winnipeg' stuff that has seen many Canadians adopting them as their '2nd team'.
The two Canadian teams that can most use a cup win to grow their fan bases and secure some bragging rights are Calgary and Ottawa... so hey, Ottawa are rivals that I suddenly hate!!
So yes, I can understand why some people feel obliged to cheer for a 'Canadian Team' in a national league (not international!!), but I will never feel that way. There are incentives to capitalize on this sentiment, and it makes me wish the ONLY team to win it is Calgary because of those sentiments, and my RATIONAL deep hatred for the other teams
Every fan is different. I am this way.

That soldier did not look like he was enjoying the applause pre-game. Gave me Deer Hunter vibes, but what doesn’t these days.

What a terrible PP.
Feel free to set up a cross ice onetimer, especially to Toffoli or Weber.

It’s so unreasonable to ask this much of your goalie.

I guess the Lightning don't ask as much of Vasilevskiy, but he gives it to them anyway.

That’s not what I mean and you know it.
Vasilevskiy has a margin for error.
Price doesn’t, and never does.

I don't think we're saying anything different... Vasilevskiy often has a decent margin of error, yeah, but he rarely actually seems to need one. He certainly doesn't use it very often.
EDIT: And then that happens.

You can play looser when you know your team isn’t completely ####ed if you get down 2.
And Vasy’s just as good as Price. But if Tampa surrounded him with the teams Montreal has iced for the last decade, they wouldn’t be three wins away from repeating.
