Johnny has less trade value than Lindholm, Tkachuk and perhaps Hanafin.

That’s how I see it. He’s saying “we’re going to negotiate and of I can come to a deal with the owners and management I’d love to stay”. So I guess we can put to bed “he wants out no matter what” (unless he’s just giving lip service, which I doubt). But it’s also not something I’m basing all the decisions going forward upon.
