Isn't constant testing and being in a bubble with others who are constantly tested safer than not being tested?
I agree there is a non zero chance that players could bring the virus home if the tests are not accurate. Compare that to the risk of living at home, getting groceries, takeout occasionally, pumping gas etc and never being tested unless you display symptoms.
The positive tests you are seeing from NHL players have all occurred while living outside this "bubble". Let's compare to the positive testing rates while inside it.
Staying home with your family is much safer.
Testing discovers who HAS it, it doesn't deter them from getting it. If someone in the bubble has it, they expose others BEFORE they know they have it. This is not difficult to understand.
Also, I think people are being misled a bit by the word bubble. Bubble implies no entry or exit. But that isn't the case - there are people needing to enter and exit the bubble regularly (for food delivery, etc). Servicing 600 team personnel plus all the support personnel requires a great deal.
The 'bubble' will not be a zero-risk environment.

Lol thanks. They will be alright though. They are healthy.
Sounds like they will be back in school this fall. Full time. Why is that? Why is it that all these rules are contradicting and make ZERO sense. You sir are the idiot. Enjoy being a brainwashed plug. Looking like a ###### wearing your mask in your car.
Being this ridiculous forced me to do a long overdue facebook cleanup and get this stupidity off my feed, deleting a bunch of people. I was surprised at how so many otherwise intelligent, forward-thinking people could spew this &^%$. Was a wake-up call for me.

For now. I wish nothing but the best with them. Especially with having zero protection from their father that's supposed to love and care for them.

I thought the left had that already censored for you. Wow, they are slipping up I guess
True, but these players are not following social distancing rules/masking rules/isolation rules from each other, the same way Hamonic can while he is at home. The risk becomes different in such a situation.
Yeah I don't know what he, or any other player, is doing at home. And certainly not my business either. So no way to really assess what level of risk to which their families are exposed.
It just seems to me that with all the testing the likelihood of inadvertently "bringing the virus home" from the bubble seems very, very low.

Christ dude, no need to go all InfoWars on us. Do you have any idea of just how ridiculous you look right now?

That’s fair, but I live with someone at high risk, so just speaking from our experience. You can isolate and separate yourself to a good level with grocery delivery, cooking your own food etc. Not sure Hamonic is doing that, or other players who have opted out have, but the risk can be somewhat controlled individually, as opposed to in a group.
Plus, there are many people who have had long term health issues once they have gotten symptomatic, so that is a risk that players with family members at risk, might not want to take.

It's amazing to me how people refuse to speak to each other civilly on this topic.
No doubt staying inside your house is the safest thing you can do. As I said earlier, I can't comment what athletes or anyone else are doing in this regard.
The point of this discussion was around bringing the virus home to your family. In which case, I don't know how testing isn't relevant to that.

Understood. And since no vaccine is likely to be 100% effective, folks like the Hamonic family will need to decide long term how best to handle their daily lives. There are lots of vocations that require interaction with people so it's not just hockey players who will need to decide how to work.
