I did a little bit of nerdsearch as a distraction...
Seems the kraken myth has no cultural or historic connection to the Pacific Ocean, only the Atlantic.
Geographically, it seems the Japanese Akkorokamui creature would be more appropriate.
But I guess culturally, while Seattle had a number of Japanese immigrants dating back to the 1880s and an entire "Japantown" district, immigrants from Nordic countries settled in large numbers in the Pacific Northwest from the late 19th century such that by 1910 Scandinavians represented the largest ethnic group in Washington.
And I guess no one seems to care that the character Starbuck is from an Atlantic story rather than a Pacific one...

Kraken has the potential for some awesome logos and merchandise, but the name “Seattle Kraken” just sounds awful to me.
I’m in the Sockeyes camp myself.

In keeping with Seattle coffee culture tradition, all players names will be misspelled on jerseys and the announcer will intentionally mispronounce player names.

Don't think you have worry about red, but Seattle tends to go with Blue,Green and Silver for everything.

Seattle's colours have consistently been a teal and salmon combo in everything since they started the process: https://www.nhl.com/seattle
Those colours were used throughout the teaser video and happen to be the colours of actual sockeye fish.
Good odds they'll be the Seattle Sockeyes as a result.
