Before all of the Atletico Ottawa discussion, CFN Media (who did the Calgary Foothills live streams for the last 4 years) has partnered with the AMSL to live stream games, produce highlights, player spotlights, etc.

Atletico Ottawa's crest is great IMO.

They'll have rivalries with both Hamilton and Edmonton. The enemy of our enemies is our friend, right?!

No - we have no friends! It's a solid crest though.

Yeah I like it and they've done a nice job with that I think.

I also already dislike them.

It is still crazy to me that two months out from the season starting and they don't have a single player.

One of the answers during the Q and A made it sound like restructuring the Canadian Championship to include Ottawa this year is likely.

I have a hunch that the Cavalry will get boned in that process.

Almost certainly. I just hope the change is to push us back one round to where the rest of the CPL teams start and not to revert to the terrible format they used last season where teams were starting in the semi-final.

I would bet they've already got a bunch of players signed and waiting to announce. Just spreading things out to extend the news cycle. Same thing Cavalry has been doing all off-season. Announce one or two signing at a time so you stay in the news.

As someone that "retired" from the AMSL a couple years ago, I approve of this...just not the timing.

Curious to see what level of coverage they'l have...ie. all games? One feature game/week?

AMSL is comparable to League 1 in Ontario, and a couple of the top teams (ie. Scottish, Green and Gold) could compete with CPL teams. There are a handful of players in that league that could definitely play CPL, and some of which will be drafted as many U-sports players play in the AMSL in the off-season.

Sounds like a player will be announced tomorrow. They sure are determined to trickle out the roster this season.

Cavalry CP Jihad Request please!

We actually have "won" a poll like this on this site last summer, but I'd like to see our Cavs "win" a second time, much like how we won the Spring & Fall Title last season!

Yet, the eastern major leagues — (On/Qc) winners get qualification to the Canadian Championship. Whereas, AMSL winner gets qualification to the more lowly Challenge Cup.

Should eliminate the On/Qc “League 1/Div 3” winners from Cdn Champs qualification and instead swap that single seed entrant to the Cdn Champs with the Challenge Cup winner.

That way it’s truly the Canadian Championship and removes the BS eastern bias.

New signing coming tomorrow. Sounds like Wednesday signing announcements will be the norm for a while.

Also, I've heard the 2020 schedule drops Monday. Not sure how accurate but that's what I've heard.

Agreed. AMSL teams are consistently top 3 in the Nation anyway.

Default CPL Supporters Trophy Survey

Some guy on reddit is trying to drum up some interest in a supporters trophy.

Quote:
Well now that the Ottletico launch is done, let's move to the next step in getting a CPL Supporters' Trophy. This would be a trophy/cup/shield created by CPL Supporters. See previous posts for more information.

Here's the link to a survey on what you'd like to see this trophy represent:

Nathan Mavila was a huge part of Cavalry's success last year. This is Good News!

Good to see for both of them. We could still use some more cover for defence, especially on the right side in case we choose to play four at the back. So far I'm thinking we're set up for a 4-3-3 like we played for the last few games of the season:

I'd like to see a better right defender in so we can move Zator back to the middle and Wheeldon to the bench. Cordova & Brown can fight for the central striker role. Could use another central midfield option to cover Camargo as well - Ledgerwood/Adekugbe/Zebie are all more defensive players and I believe Minatel/Hernandez are more wingers.
