He can be sent to the AHL. He could potentially be loaned to another team's AHL affiliate.

Rittich faced 8 shots in over 32 minutes. Gillies comes in and faces 7 in just under 8 minutes.

Missed the goalie change and was watching with no sound on. Thought that was Rittich and was very concerned about how he just crumbled. Nope, Just Gillies. RIP. I don't wanna give up on the guy but he's making hard on me.

He was getting waived no matter what. There's no way they were going to start the season with three goalies in Calgary, or waive either Rittich or Talbot.
If he was trying to get interest from other teams, this isn't the way to do it.
