IMO it's the industry pressure more than people or social media. I think almost all women look worse after plastic surgery and many of them far worse and I don't know many guys that think it looks good in general. I'm not even a fan of boob jobs. I generally feel sad that these women are in a situation where they are gifted with beautiful looks but feel that it's not good enough to progress in their industry.
I just don't understand how these people that get this work done think it looks good. Most of these women end up looking like aliens after a lot of work.

The funny thing about Erin Moriarty is that she has done interviews in the past where she felt she felt her good looks got in the way and she was being oversexualized in the industry, not unlike her character on the show. She seemed to acknowledge that she was attractive. Who knows how people really see themselves though.
The images Hollywood and pop culture promote are terrible. I remember a few years back, the scrawny, twiggy look was in and someone in an interview called Jennifer Lawrence a "plus sized" actress. I was pretty floored and thought in what world is she plus sized. She is tall and was maybe like 140 lbs at the time. It made me sad to think of girls taking that kind of comment at face value.

I love dark comedy that pushes boundaries but the way they wrote in the character of Starlight in season 1 of The Boys was quite vile. It was there for pure shock value and honestly totally demeaning. Almost nothing offends me but that did.
Did I overreact?
Erin Moriarty did have a bunch of work done and not just her face.

That was the point.
It was designed to elicit a reaction along the theme that 'heroes are awful.'
And they kept pushing it and pushing it. But they knew what they were doing.
I dont think the plot of the show has anything to do with Moriarty has done though. I dont see how those two things would be connected.

I'm not saying there is a definitely a connection, but I feel bad for her. No matter how much you tell yourself it's just the script it has to affect a person. Or maybe not and it's just me, either way it was most certainly memorable.
I personally can't understand how anyone could get to a place to do that to their face. If it makes her happy then that's all that matters but I can't relate even in the slightest.

How has no one brought up Madonna yet. Makes Starlight's surgeon look like Michaelangelo. Kenny Rogers looked bizarre there after his work.
Mickey Rourke, what happened there. Carrot Top, I can see, his shtick was looking like a ghoul and he added to it.

No it doesnt.
She's an actress.
She literally plays 'make believe' for a living. She can sort out the difference between 'real life' and 'make believe.'
If not, then she needs some help, because there was literally nothing wrong with her.
Honestly? This whole thing reminds me of that 'Jesus portrait' restoration in Spain.

They actually toned that down a lot from the source material comics. You can google around, but the source material was much much worse.

Sure but human nature doesn't always yield to your logical side.

I know, plus she was the perfect casting for Starlight.

I don’t know why. It’s none of my business why she felt the need to change her appearance, and I don’t expect her to live up to my standard of beauty.

The comics make the TV show look like a Mr. Rogers episode.

Nor mine and I do hope it makes her a happier person but man...
I've been a part of this conversation before.
"Would you like it if I got *whatever*"
And my answer was 'No.' If you want it? I'll support you. Thats okay with me. But I dont want you to change anything.
This though? It seems extreme.

Bart Simpson:
How about, "an alligator bit off my face."
Marge Simpson:
That's disgusting! And besides, if a woman really loves a man, she doesn't care if an alligator bites off his face.
Homer:
I may hold you to that, Marge.

Jesus Christ are we arguing over what she has decided to do to herself?
She can do whatever she wants to herself.
