We were 65% in the faceoff dot for the 2nd game in a row.
The PP scored again for the 2nd game in a row and actually looked dangerous at times, especially the one in OT, which is a good sign that they're finally figuring it out.
PK was a perfect 4/4. (8/8 for the series so far)
29 blocked shots.
Smith was outstanding once again, which bodes well going forward.
Hamonic and Bennett are playoff warriors of the highest caliber.
The top line finally got on the scoresheet.
...ok, now back to your regularly scheduled doom and gloom.

Thanks doesn't do this post justice and a lot has to do with the late start and the state of mind most fans are in.
So thank you for this post.

There are like 5 centers like that in the NHL and 31 teams...they sucked and won a lottery, good for them.
Flames have been a far better TEAM over the year, one game doesn't change that. If hockey was about one player the Oilers would be winning the cup.
Mackinnon is 1-5 against the Flames this season

What a BS post. Would you, or would you not take Mac over Monny for the rest of the season? Yes or no question?

How 'bout I bet $100 imaginary dollars to match the imaginary metrics you keep coming up with to prove MacKinnon is better (which nobody is arguing with you about, BTW?)

Best reply to all the dumb hoopla in this PGT.
Maybe the Avs have the best player here, maybe. But the Flames have the better team. And it's a team game.

imaginary metrics or not?
Not sure of yourself there are you?
Joking. Anyone who thinks Monahan is better than MacKinnon is obviously insane. Don't take my word for it thought. Go out there and get good opinions.
Funny, all I said was that Monny wasn't up to par in this series. Judging by the responses I am wrong. Just like I was wrong about Brodie and Czarnik. I will have to move on and rethink how I evaluate players here.

Brodie is like an uncanny reflection of how the team plays as a whole. When the Flames play terrible, Brodie is bad, like tonight or the stretch right after the All star break or with Gulutzan. When the team is rolling, Brodie is excellent, driving a lot of the play.

If Smith continues to play like this we will win the series.

So many people hitting the panic button... It's an even 5 game series now and the Flames are yet to come close to showing their best.
Edit: I take that back. Not so many people are hitting panic, just those who are receive a lot of attention.

Hard to say, but the Avs are just faster than we are. Beating us to every puck. We were abused in that game and, but for Smith, we would have lost by at least 3. Being in the rink for that beatdown was tough.
Hopefully going on the road will help. But our superior depth is bs. We got man handled in our own rink tonight. Full stop.

Or, anyone who watched that game objectively. We got pounded. Smith kept it from being embarrassing.
But by all means, blue sky that ####.

Nah, the Avs have been throwing their best at the Flames and the Flames certainly haven't shown their best yet. Somewhat concerning that they haven't shown their best, but there's no reason to throw in the towel when you have the team capable of playing at the highest level between the two.
Edit: To add to that, for a bit of perspective consider that Tampa has been outscored 9-1 by Columbus in recent periods are they're down by two games. Do you think they're dead in the water and without a chance?

Very frustrating game to watch as I felt the top line of the Avs really hemmed us in and dictated the play basically all night. That being said, I have watched this team play all season, and know we have another gear. Go Flames!

No panic, a little more urgency from guys like Mony will go a long way though.
The only real permanent change we should look at for next game is moving Brodie to the third pair and significantly reducing his minutes in favor of Rasmus.

This game gave me flash backs to when the Sedin line would pin us in our own zone for what felt like an eternity. I almost wish while they are cycling behind the net someone on the backside would come off their man and just nail the puck carrier. It gets so annoying watching them cycle around while maintaining complete control.

Disappointed not so much in the result but in the lack of urgency. Guys looked slow (Backlund, Jankowski and Neal stand out) and uninvested. Johnny can show up now please. Bennett and Smith were bright spots.
Avs took it to us the entire game.
