Not to discount the goal because I think it was great but I think there's a few guys in the league that are practicing this play.
Goalies are hugging the post and generally tucked in the net, down small and leaving a glimmer top corner. If you watch Kane it seems it's a timing thing to release right before the crease line. It's worth the shot at the very least it can wreak havoc in the front of the net.
