Thiem is out as he retires in the 3rd set (he has lost the first two sets 7-5 6-4 and was trailing love-2 when he pulled the chute). Aussie wildcard Alexei Popyrin moves on to the 3rd round.

Yup, Halep survives and gets Venus in the next round. Kenin played great, just ran out of steam at the end.

The thing is that Genie is playing well.
She's battling, staying aggressive, making Serena move. I actually think Genie is playing better today than she did in her dominant first round match.
But ...
Serena is on fire today. A completely different level.
