Absolutely. It was nice to see Ovi’s reaction, he knows how tough they are to beat

Even saying that, I would even say that Pittsburgh lost the game, more so than Washington winning it. Breakaway on a silver platter. (Of course they did have to, ahem, capitalize.)

Yeah, five cups in my lifetime. So I suppose no team has done better in the last 27. Very happy for Ovi though

Congrats to the Caps. Proved they were the better team fair and square.

Murray just wasn't up to it this series. The Pens needed him to steal a game or two this series, but he just came through looking passable. Didn't look in the same league as the last two years.

Anyways, as much as it sucks seeing the Pens lose, I'm glad that the next round is going to be another entertaining one. Was really hoping it would have been VGK vs. Pens, but there is nothing but good and exciting teams left anyways.

He had a pretty good backup in Fleury. Glad Vegas gave that guy a shot.

Ohhhhh yeah, go Caps!! OV finally shakes the elephant off his back, after being a monster this post season. So fitting he assists on the winning goal. No player in the game currently deserves to have a chance at the cup more so then him.

Now to take out those filthy lightning!!

Congrats to the Caps. This might just be Ovi's year.

Also, how about that Nathan Walker! What a roller coaster season for him scoring in his first game, then ending up on the Oilers, then going back to the Caps and picking up an assist in his first playoff game.

If it becomes a Vegas vs Tampa Stanley Cup Final, there's a legitimate chance that Crosby/Guentzel still end up leading in playoff scoring with 21 points.

Right now the top point scorers are Kucherov (12) and Marchessault (11) for the Knights and Lightning, respectively.

Yep. He stepped up big time in this series either scoring or setting up a lot of big goals.

Also, Crosby moves into a tie for 10th all-time in playoff scoring with Yzerman. Some lofty company there.

In my opinion, Washington won the series because Pittsburgh lost it, not because they were the better team.

I guess technically since Letang is part of Pittsburgh, his costly mistakes are part and parcel of what Pittsburgh is, which in this series is the more careless team.

100% agree. Pittsburgh made so many dumb mistakes over the course of the series, coupled with flat out poor play from guys like Murray.

What a weird assessment.

John Carlson's strong play, Ovi elevating his game and Holtby playing very well had nothing to do with the win? Pitts just pissed it away? Come on. Supporting cast guys like Vrana had a huge series too.

Caps were the better team for large stretches of the series, even without Tom Wilson. Pen's secondary scoring was not contributing.

Why not both?

The Capitals capitalized (no pun intended) on that poor play and those mistakes. To my eye that wasn't a Pens team on top of their game.

You could make a good argument that the Pens weren't on the top of their game for their last Cup win either. They got outchanced a good portion of those games last spring but always seemed to come up with the timely goal when needed.

I would like to see the Caps go on a run. It would be a shame if a player like Ovechkin doesn't win a Cup in his career.

I can list Penguins who played well too.

And nobody’s saying Caps aren’t a good team.

Letang was getting out of position, gifting a clear path to the net, giving away breakaways that directly led to tying and winning goals. In the last two games. Not early in the game, at late and critical points.

Yes the Caps capitalized, but why is it weird? Letang was playing D like Anders Eriksson

It’s like the expression about a chain being as strong as its weakest link

Honestly he was unfairly a whipping boy here.

He was a good bottom 6 forward / PKer.

However due to our complete lack of any type of skill on RW he needed to play higher up the line up.
