Nate Thompson leaving Anaheim for Ottawa is great news as a Flames fan.

I ####ing hate that POS. Plus he looks like Josh Jooris travelled back in time from a dystopian future.

Really good point. Thompson has been a thorn in our sides ever since he moved to ANA. Glad to see him out of the division.

Is it just me, or is this free agent period more like shopping at Winners/TJ Maxx than anything? You may dig out a good item here or there, but for the most part it is is bargain basement crap.

Now, tell me again that Kevin Lowe isn't the one pulling the strings for that franchise.

I would have take Thompson on the Flames in a heart beat! I hated him playing against the Flames so I am glad that he's out of the division.

If I'm Keegan, there's no way in hell I'm signing with the Oilers. "Oh look, daddy gave him a chance"

I would rather not make it at all, than rely on daddy's help (even if it's only perception)

I don't think there is anything wrong with you using your connections to get an opportunity, it's done in the business world every day.

You still have to do something with that opportunity.

@KKurzNBCS
It’s my understanding that other teams have offered Marleau better deals than what Sharks are offering. Could be why he hasn’t decided yet.

He's probably going to make much more than the Flames can afford. Seems like he's gonna get paid.

Seriously dude, poop or get off the pot. It's not like he just found out he was going to be ufa yesterday, do some advance planning.

If he and Joe sign with SJ, so much unnecessary drama.

Who is to blame here? San Jose has a lot of contracts to sign and planning to do.

I'm not sure why you should think he should simply sign the first deal that comes his way.

Thornton signed a one year $6.5m deal.

That's likely his floor contract.

I assume that Calgary is out of the running with that much cap.
