One of the few player for player Bennett trades I could stomach

Assets like what? Two mid-late first round picks, or picks and Sam Bennett? Because I don't believe for a second that Hamonic could command a cost-controlled young centre with a high ceiling in return.
I am starting to think the Flames just may trade for Hamonic, and the deal will likely only involve picks/prospects when all said and done. Treliving's first ever draft pick who just played his second NHL season is most likely not on the table.

Leafs fans...I'm told Toronto is among the teams with strong interest and an offer in on Travis Hamonic. As you were.

Arthur Staple @StapeNewsday
With multiple offers for Hamonic, sense is #Isles would rather send him out west if they find a fit.

No I definitely wasn't inferring Bennett as part of any asset for Hamonic, that would be terrible. A first and maybe a prospect would be alright but I'm not really on the Hamonic train.

Hamonic wanted to go to western canada previously(with the isles agreeing) and isles probably don't want to trade within conference.

Hamonic's reoccurring knee problems are a huge turnoff for me

I believe Toronto, Calgary, Detroit and Tampa Bay in hard. Arizona was also interested, but Hjalmarsson trade may change that.

Well, these two pieces of news, taken together, certainly seem to point in a pretty nice direction.

No way the Isles trading him to Toronto unless for a large overpayment.

With the way the trades have been going today, I'm willing to bet Hamonic is dealt and we won't have the 16 OV pick (in some deal)

I was thinking the same thing. I imagine the cost will be the lowest for the Flames out of that group.

Ya, CGY has been linked to him for a bit now. With the overload of trades happening it seems more and more likely the Flames gonna move that pick for a Dman. I have no doubt Treliving wants in on this trade action

Apparently the Isles offered Hamonic, a 2018 first, and a prospect for Duchene according to Arthur Staple.

The Avs don't make smart deals. They'll pass.

The Avs aren't very smart in general. As evidenced by their protection of Comeau from the Expansion Draft.

Isles general manager Garth Snow still covets Avalanche center Matt Duchene, however, and is believed to have an offer on the table that includes Hamonic, a prospect and possibly the Islanders’ 2018 first-round pick.
