To your first point, well obviously. To you 2nd point, no it's not over at 2-0.

Flames need to split the first two games. Ducks have their own playoff demons as they don't deal well with adversity. Being up 2-0 is too easy for them and leaves the Flames too little room for error against an opponent that's always opportunistic against them.

We're going to game 1 in Anaheim, sitting lower bowl, hopefully we can break the curse.

We're in the play-offs so we don't need to not pretend anything.
Isn't the scoring on this team more balanced this year?

The way I see it, the Flames haven't lost in the first round since 2008-2009, almost a decade ago. Not going to start now. Flames in an easy 4.

2016-17 Anaheim Ducks: 46 wins
2016-17 Calgary Flames: 45 wins

And yet *certain* Flames fans are pissing their panties at the thought of playing the Ducks. Flames have beat teams like the Caps this season and the Ducks this season, and can beat anyone on any given night. This season's losses at the Honda center are independent of what happen to previous teams in previous years. It can turn around at any second.

Ducks are a good team, and so are the Flames. Both teams have a chance to win, and I hope it's my team. I'm ready:

I did not like Freidman wondering on 960 this morning wondering if Gio will get several penalties to even up the loss of Fowler. What the hell is that? The referees planning to affect the series before it starts? Typical, I guess. Flames have to ignore the Ducks. Play Flames hockey and we can do this.

Eff you Ducks!!

If the Flames can win game 1, it will completely change the dynamic of the series. Hell, it would change the dynamic of the Flames franchise to know we can beat our biggest kryptonite.

MOD EDIT: removed picture.

Flames did out-shoot the Ducks by a good margin in most of the games this year. They just let in a bad goal or a flukey goal and can't get back on track.

We are on a family trip to Anaheim/San Diego for the same time as Game #7, so although I would love to see Flames win in 6 or less, would also be up for watching game 7 down south.

Flames have been compared to the Blackhawks, it's time to play the Ducks like Chicago would.

Avoid the scrums, avoid the after whistle crap. Let the Ducks take the penalties and punish them on the powerplay.

Finish every check with authority, but as soon as the whistle goes, turn away from everything and go straight to the bench. This will drive Kesler, Bieksa, and Perry mad.

The only way to get a #### disturber off his game, is to not get disturbed.

Quoted for truth. This is the only way to beat them. Not trying to prove we are as tough as them. Finish checks, but avoid the after whistle affairs. As much as we all love rough and tumble hockey scrums, Ducks love it even more and it plays directly into their hands. Flames need to do what is best for Flames. Not try to react to what the Ducks are doing.

By game 2 or 3, I want Ball to be mentioning how the Ducks are unable to keep up with the Flames speed and have no answer for their transition game. Not how the Flames are being suckered into every scrum between whistles.

Yeah I don't like hearing that either. Its all speculation but the thought of the refs trying to control the series before it even starts bugs me. Hope thats not the case. I do expect the Ducks to take runs at our star players and to try and get redemption against Gio. If the refs are indeed concerned about keeping things in check before they get out of hand I would expect more calls against Anaheim, not Gio.

Here's the box score of the Dec 4th game at the Dome this season where the Flames pounded the Ducks 8-3. I was at that game and MAN did 5 goals in six minutes in the 2nd period ever feel awesome!

So we CAN do it. I'm putting most of the raw data here for brilliant CPers to break down and analyse to figure out how we can shell the Ducks. Complete box score http://www.espn.com/nhl/boxscore?gameId=400884771

My notes:
- Hathaway played 7:36. Two assists. Some penalties. I think he's exactly what we need against the Ducks and I don't think it's coincidence that the Flames win a TONNE with him and then he goes back to Stockton and they start winning. Dude is a warrior and makes everyone play harder!
- Flames scored on two early power plays. One to open the scoring and the second time to add an insurance marker just as the flood gates were opening. That is key.
- Flames didn't even outshoot them. Just capitalized on their chances. Hmm...

Go Flames Go! It can be done!

I firmly believe the "aging" we've seen the Kings do during this year's regular season is also imminent for the Ducks. I HOPE we see that slowness and age come out in the next two weeks. I KNOW their window is closing and we'll see a huge decline too....but with any luck we're poised to push them over the age-cliff right now!

This is where the emotional maturity of the team comes into play, and all the losses vs the Ducks this year have shown that the Flames don't have enough. I'd like to believe they figure it out in the next few days and actually play their game, but I think we're going to see an ugly series as the Flames play down to the level of the Ducks

I hope we come out flying Game 1. Let the Ducks come out looking for revenge and take penalties. Make them pay in the scoreboard in game 1 and make them bleed in the end when the games out of reach and I can see us taking this series in 6. Winning game 1 is crucial though.

I am honestly surprised by the number of people who are predicting the Flames to win only one game.
