That was impressive. I'm so glad Backlund has worked out over the long term. A reminder to all us fans, especially those criticizing Bennett. Not me, but you.

Love seeing Backlund trash talk Jokinen there.

I hope Tkachuk ends up the Captain

Flames @ Panthers
Bennett is showing everyone why it's important to have some damn patience with player development. He has been fantastic as of late.

Wow, Flames looking like contenders right now, this is incredible. We remained in the playoff hunt despite our stars looking very pedestrian, if they start looking like stars, as it seems they are, look out.

Bennett is doing 2 things in particular tonight that he hasn't been doing, or appearing to do in previous games:
1) He is skating like mad. big long strides, bent at the hip, driving hard.
2) He is handling the puck sooooooo much better than in previous games. I would try him on the PP tonight based on how well he seems to be receiving passes and holding onto the puck along the boards.

I don't know how you can just single out Jagr. The flames are strong against the works right now.

Definitely see his bulldog type game with confidence right now. Similar to when we first drafted him

The confidence is there and he's not a fragile young man that'll lose it as soon as things go sour. Backlund was an extremely fragile young player, bolted from his Swedish team as a teenager, almost bolted from the AHL in tough times here.. but stuck with it and is such a player now.
I've been a long time booster and supporter of his, have tried to be pragmatic about his future with this team but Treliving needs to find a way to keep him past next season. He's almost at 4/season so find the 1-1.5 and get it done.
Center is a foundational position for building a team and Monahan, Backlund and Bennett is strong.

Versteeg is so underrated due to how he signed. He's a legit threat and a drink stirrer in a top 6 role, that's not something that usually comes cheap, so we enjoy what we're getting on a PTO contract signing.

I like these lines......As much as I like Ferland, a nice RW addition to the Monahan line would be just dandy.

It's almost as though proclaiming he has no top six career potential and suggesting he be traded was a tad premature.

They've been getting chances anytime the 45 year old is on the ice. He just can't keep up and is riding Barkov hard.
So I do hope he gets more minutes because he will continue to be burnt by the Flames.
