Either way...the Wideman effect should be gone next season.

Tkachuk with a great interview there. I see captain potential with that kind of media savvy. I for one can not wait to see what this player looks like in 5 years. Superstar potential.

Another one that should've been treated like a spear. Unbelievable reffing and ruling.

That is my main gripe. There is no consistency in calls, the players have no idea what is a penalty and what isn't. A guy will do something blatant and nothing, then another guy does something casual and gets nailed. They can't even drop a damn puck properly. It really wrecks the game.

In fairness, that was a slash. Slashing is a horizontal or vertical movement of the stick. Spearing is a forward jab.

Good first period by Elliott. Hopefully he is zoning in for the stretch run, which can be his forte.

Just an aside, making manhattans with cranberry bitters is a revelation.

Nope.
A spear is defined by poking with the point of the blade. He literally poked Chara in the junk with the point of the blade of his stick.

That is why that spear was an odd call on a borderline call as they typically go out of their way to not enforce by the letter of the law. Instagators are another prime example.

I am all for Bartowski getting a shot if Wideman gets scratched.

I'd rather see literally any other hockey player get a shot if it meant Wideman gets scratched.

If Wideman gets scratched for Bartowski I'm getting a Barkowski jersey...from China.

I am willing to give him a shot as no one on the bottom pairing is seizing the opportunity

Fair enough. Though in my experience, they have virtually always called plays that don't involve the forward jab as a slash. though in that example, it should have been a major whether or not you call it slashing or spearing.
