I think with the higher expectations this year (kids getting bigger contracts, goalie upgrades, UFA signings, etc.) all of us wanted to get off on the right foot.
But with a new coach and a totally different system to learn, coming out of the gate like that would show the forum's bi-polar nature. We're all just passionate fans that want the Flames to win.
For me, I'm giving GG 20 games (probably more) to see what the system is really like and how the players adjust before I rush to judgement, although I was getting very worried after the first St. Louis game.

But a lot of those games came after November so they were meaningless to the Oilers.

You guys are building up so much bad juju with all your boasting over 6 measly games. Do you really want to prod the hockey gods with such comments when there's more than 9/10 of the season yet to be played?
If I were an Oiler fan I'd shut my trap. There isn't a fan base that needs to exercise a "wait and see" approach more than the bunch up north. Do you really want to set yourselves up for new levels of humiliation if the wheels fall off yet again?
Tbh given what I saw the past two days I think the Oil should be quite glad they faced the game 1 Flames and not the game 8 Flames. Chicago and St. Louis are far superior 'measuring stick' teams and they handled them impressively.

I tried, but your phone was busy. It must have been from the backlog of phone calls from the last 7-8 years of the Flames dominating the Oilers, that are still coming in. I'll try again later.

Especially after that same poster had just admitted Oiler fans were getting too excited and was embarrassed by over-confident Oiler fans.
I don't know what's funnier: that many people biting, or that many people biting with almost the exact same comeback.
The Oilers may suck, but Oiler trolls know how to work the crowd.

The important thing if you do bite is not to respond with undertones of butthurt.
Sometimes it's just fun to put them in their place and I'm guilty of indulging at times.

Is it too early for a Kris "Frickin" Versteeg thread?
He's just a way better passer and producer than you expect to be available in October.

Who let you out of your time-out corner? You get back in there young man and think about what you've done, ruining Elliott's shutout.

I am interested in what people think about him in terms of being a possible contract extension/long term fit with the flames. On the other hand he could have good trade value if the flames end up being sellers this season. Either way looks like great value so far, glad the oilers missed out.

All the fancy stats types were blown away when Versteeg signed in Switzerland because he was one of the best playmakers (by rate) in the league last year.
Looks like they may have been on to something.

I want to try a Gaudreau-bennett-brower line. That would be sick but we would lose some depth scoring

I was pretty worried about Grossmann in the GDT yesterday but gotta give props when it's warranted, it sounds like he played within his ability and didn't cost the team so good for him. I'd still rather see Kulak getting some games in if he's going to be up with the big club but the results speak for themselves, Grossmann is apparently able to play some safe minutes against good competition.
