Just to be clear, the weekend saw the Oilers send away their 3RW Yakupov for nothing, refuse to acquire one of several suitable replacements for free, decide that a teenager who performed poorly in camp earned a job, then fail to sign a no-brainer option at RW who skated with the team all preseason.

I am SOOOOOOOO glad to see someone equally as competent as Lowe has taken over up there.

The signing makes we wonder why we didn't give him a PTO first. Is there a limit every camp?

Solid finisher. This is the ideal type of player to compliment the top line.

Mason Raymond - signed for 3 years 3.15 million AAV as a UFA on July 1
Kris Versteeg - signed for a 1 year 950K as a UFA on a PTO on Oct 11

Not even close to the same.

I like this signing a lot. He's the type of player I wanted on the top line - decently skilled, but more importantly an agitator. He's annoying to play against. Anything to try to get the focus off whacking Gaudreau's wrists and pushing him around after the play for the other team. Talk some trash, whack some wrists back, crash the net.

I wish Ferland was that guy, but while he throws body-checks, he isn't a pest like Versteeg.

He had a similarly sad blog after the yakupov trade also.

Shame the mods at HF Oil closed the thread. We were starting to see some spin doctoring that would put Trump's staff to shame.

you think nero had a howdown as rome burned?
Ummm...

Either way it isn't meant to be taken literally, but it does have a double meaning.

Yeah, this is a weird one handgroen. Whether you agree with the guy or not, the idiom he is using is pretty much perfect for his argument.

He's saying that Chiarelli is an ineffective leader who did nothing to solve (one of) the Oilers' biggest problem. Just like Nero playing his fiddle...

I wonder if this is a pay cut compared to how much Versteeg signed for with Bern (Swiss National League).

For those who missed this last month.

Sadly, the Flames are paying Raymond $100,000 more this season to not play for them than they're paying Versteeg to play for them.
