Why was Gudbranson jumping a bit into that hit? What a goof.

Meh, he does that a lot. Just straightens up at the last second which looks like he's leaping into the guy. I'm fine with that hit.

Love Tkachuk on the pp. On another note Shinkaruk has been underwhelming. Don't think he gets a sniff of the NHL this year. Haven't liked his game at all.
Zero intensity.

Seems like Wideman's playing himself off the team fairly fast.

Except it would have been late.
Edit. I rewound it and he did actually leave his feet.

I swear Organist Guy is going even more Nintendo on us than last year.

Glad I'm not OG enough to have been around alt.sport.nhl.whatever when Steve Chaisson was playing for us. For those that are OG enough, was there this much moaning back then too?

Yeah, I don't think it was terrible or anything, but he's a big boy. Just keep your feet on the ice.

These linesmen are also in preseason form it appears. Late, late whistles.

Okay. Chiasson looked real lost there in front of the net when he was all alone with that opportunity... Thought it was a kid.

I hope they catch some lightning in a bottle but I think this is still another rebuild season and there will likely be considerable growing pains for some players if Gulutzan is really goign to transform the team to be a more solid 3 zone squad.
I actually am really enjoying the lack of shotblocking. Elliot and Johnson have looked good stopping pucks and I feel like the Flames have looked more organized in the defensive zone (major breakdowns notwithstanding) than they did when they were laying all over the ice last year.
I think a positive is that Hamilton looks really good so far. If he has a strong start along with the rest of the club they could ride that out to the playoffs. I think going forward Hamilton's offensive game will be a real catalyst for whether the organization has success or not.

This was about as depressing as the Jays right now.
