I don't know why, but when it comes to Edm lineups, all I ever see is:
Oilers Oilers Oilers
Oilers Oilers Oilers
Oilers Oilers Oilers
Oilers Oilers Oilers
Oilers Oilers
Oilers Oilers
Oilers Oilers
Oilers
Oilers
It's weird. It doesn't even matter what the names are; I just can't bring myself to take them seriously at all.

I'd imagine it'd be more like
Klefbom-Demers (Offensive pair)
Davidson-Larsson (Defensive pair)
Sekera-Nurse
Dayne
I'd prefer they blow their money on Lucic instead than get a Demers to round out their group.

nhlnumbers.com still works for contract numbers. GeneralFanager needs a fundraising campaign for better hosting services.

Klefbom ($4.167)- Larsson ($4.167)
Sekera ($5.5)- Demers ($3.65 <- last probably expects a raise)
Davidson ($1.425)- Nurse ($1.713)
Fayne ($3.625)
Thats $24.25M assuming Demers doesnt get a raise.

Yes, because if history is any indicator it shows that players who play in Edmonton always experience big boosts in their production.

Davidson is a 3. The level he was playing at against top offensive players this year was impressive. At worst he's a 4. He's arguably their best defenseman.

Klefbom - who knows at this point. Could be a Brodie but still a ways to go.
|
Don't really see a Brodie, but a left-shot Seabrook maybe.
Larsson is easily a top pairing guy even if he's not a #1. Only one defenseman in the entire NHL the past two seasons has played as tough quality of minutes - his own partner Andy Greene. The gap between that pair's difficulty of minutes and any other pair in the league the last two years is not insignificant - they're on an island.

I don't think he has zero offensive ability. I think he was on the worst offensive team in the NHL. I'm not saying he is an offensive juggernaut, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him put up over 30 pts next season. He was +15 on a team that couldn't score.
Don't get it twisted I don't think it was a fair trade from value. I just think a lot of people really have no clue what kind of player he is. There's no reason they should, the Devils have been pretty irrelevant recently. This isn't the worst trade the Oilers could have made. Also, Larsson is at least as good as Hamonic.
