Some people seem to think that Hartley's defensive "system" is to block shots. It's not like the message is, "Ok, we lose the puck, bust your ass back as hard as you can to surround the net and block anything and everything." It's just that he demands, that if it is the only option your left with, you have to do it. Shot blocking is obviously a last ditch effort to break up a play you allowed to happen. The system broke, and now you need to block a shot.

It's a sign of commitment to the team's success when a guy lays down to block a shot. It's a sign of lackthereof when they have a chance to and don't. So while the team maybe blocked a lot of shots, because of a lot of defensive breakdowns, there may be instances that stand out in Hartley's mind of chances to block goals that didn't happen.

I made the mistake of reading some of the comments. I believe I found Big Tuna's instagram handle from this quote.

Quote:
that's the argument you're going to bring into this? Being a professional athlete is Geaudreau's job, he gets paid millions of dollars per year. All professions get evaluated and judged, it's part of life. Police officers get evaluated based on their performance and professionalism, teachers, doctors, mechanics, everybody who has a career is evaluated based on their performance and work ethic. That's exactly what I'm doing here. Just because your small little American boy "Johnny Hockey" is super cute doesn't give him a hall pass. If this was an elite player like Nazem Kadri posting a picture like this people would be all over him. Don't tell me to shut the "f" up when I'm simply giving him some critical feedback for his professionalism.
I can't even....

Posting a picture like this? WTF?

It's not like he's doing pushups with stacks of cash on his back.

It's a completely tasteful, low key picture of a couple of buddies enjoying themselves on a vacation after a long "work" season.

Man some people need to pull the sticks from their butts. Way too uptight about everything.

Oh yeah, and Johnny Hockey crap things out that are more "elite" than Nazem Kadri.

I like how the young guys like each other enough to vacation together. If I'm Bennett and Bouma I'm making Johnny buy all the drinks though. He's next up for a raise (and Bouma better save his current salary for all its worth).

The biggest WTF that arose from balcony-gate is that someone thinks Kadri is an elite talent.

Literally 2 days after the NHL season ended a couple years back I ran into Marcus Foligno and his girlfriend at the hotel I was at in Mexico - very nice guy.

Doubt its uncommon.

Never, never read the comments.

Maybe next time they take a picture on a balcony, they should be on treadmills.... on a balcony in Mexico? People are unbelievable. The season is over. They did their exit interviews, took responsibility for their shortcomings and missing the playoffs, etc, etc. What they do now is no one`s business outside of the athletes themselves and the coaches\management. The idea that they owe fans every waking second of their lives is crazy.

I was under the impression that this was pretty standard procedure for most pro athletes. Take a couple weeks off after the season ends, then back to off-season training. But NO PICS! haha How dare they.
